Is it possible that the Ottmans have very strange priorities? I'm currently playing a co-op game with a friend and they rather meddle in horde affairs than actually conquer what they are supposed to. They took Constantinople early, at least something they did right. But it's 1500 now and half of the Anatolian minors are either independent or have been annexed by the Mamluks. The Ottomans took the mission to conquer the Levant - they didn't do anything to fulfill this mission; instead they continue doing the dirty work for the hordes. First they continued being Crimea's attack dog, then, after Crimea was annexed by Lithuania, their allegiance switched to Nogai/Timurids. And Anatolia and parts of Greece are still independent.

I'm not a great fan of rail-roading things, but the Ottomans really need to have some reasonable priorities, i.e. concentrating on Greece and Anatolia before declaring themselves Defender of all Turks, like they currently do. :D
