Hello,

I've read a random review today and one thing got ma a little worried, the reviewer said that he completed the campaign ( 16 missions ) in 5-6 hourse ( source : http://gamerlimit.com/2009/09/gamer-limit-review-majesty-2/ ) . I find it hard to believe to be honest, as i spent 5 hours on demo alone . But if some one here ( preferably russian person who has full version ) has some info on difficulty/ lenght of the campaign I would like to know it .

People say the demo is hard, I can complete it with 0 deaths and all lairs destroyed and I'm afraid I'll complete the single player content in one sunday afternoon, and that would suck . Yes i know multiplayer will be fun but Majesty was always ( for me ) the game that you play to relax, in the evening, with a beer or a cup of coffe. And multiplayer is about competition and there is no pause button :) .

Also one last thing, there is no freeplay/ custom /random game mode ?

No, there is no radom scenario atm. There are iirc three 'survival' scenarios and a handfull of others with a mission.

On the campaign length. I am not a very good player but some of the scenarios proved to be rather difficult for me, particulairly the earlier stages of the scenarios. I have, so far, spend over 10 hours and am not yet halfway in the campaign.

When I set out I didn't like the game but now I really like it.

Can't really figure how that guy finished the game in five to six hours, when the other reviews I've read yet report a twenty hour campaign.

Perhaps by playing at 2x or 5x speed. But then you are insane.

Aren't there different campaigns, and all campaigns total amount to 16 missions?

Maybe he took one campaign as the WHOLE campaign?

Some reviewers are THAT stupid. Some barely even play an hour. I rather stick to my favorite mag instead of web-reviews.

Found more confusing info ( source http://www.cheatcc.com/pc/rev/majesty2review2.html ) below the rating, one of the game features is :
"Play through four different campaigns with more than 15 missions, as well as a stand-alone sandbox mode and a variety of multiplayer maps."

There is one campaign comprised of 16 missions, the four chapters probably refers to the four major bosses (or the artefacts) that you face\get. There are six singleplayer missions independant of the campaign which can be played in any order (refered to as Single Mission).

Just have to add there are three of these which are survival missions, the others are regular.

I'd like to point out that, from what I've seen, the survival map they gave us in the demo is the easiest of the three.

Personally I believe that Battle for Survival in the Desert is the easier of the three survival maps. Heck I passed it the first time I tried without even expanding my kingdom outwards that much, using temples or even any trade posts.

I have no idea what the missions are named due to the way I'm getting to play them hehe. But the one that has the dragons that head straight for your blacksmith every single time is really, really annoying.

If the game will feel too easy, im sure there will be hardcore mods available soon. From simple ones, making everything more (much more) expensive, to others wich multiply mobs health etc. Everyone will find theirs prefered difficulty sooner or later.

Hmm... I still think Plains is easier than Desert. I did the desert one... The Werewolves are even harder to kill than Bearmen (Though they don't do as much damage to buildings), and the elementals make Bearmen and Ogres look like little sissy girls in pink dresses and hair ribbons.

Plus the fact that you have to clear elementals off the temple locations before you can use them. Makes it a bit tougher.

Also the Werewolves and Imps are annoyingly smart... They sit outside your town thinking for a moment, and then they all rush to wherever there's a gap in your tower coverage and attack the buildings there.

Not a big issue when you have 30 heroes, but I was trying to play it with only 16... 4 parties of 4 heroes ;)

After the first 4-5 missions they definitely get harder, have failed a few times now. Which is a very good thing because you have to learn the game more in order to beat these missions. I hate rats right now.

Heh. Rats are a pain. On most missions they keep spawning faster and faster as time goes on, and usually from places inside your defenses (Though a wise player will often put a guard tower next to sewer vents :) )

The worst thing is that high level heroes ignore them, I guess because the amount of gold they'd get for killing them just isn't worth their time...

On the other hand, rats and ratmen almost always go after income buildings, so if you have a warrior's guild next to the marketplace, you can just hit call to arms :D
