Then where's the freedom of speech :confused:
Why people in Mainland China can talk about democracy nowadays but we cannot talk about "Charm of Communism" here?:eek:
not to get off subject, but there is no freedom of speach gurantee on a companies website :)

just avoid breaking rules and avoid people trying to trick you into a fight and therby breaking the rules. language barrier can and has and will cause problems anywhere people with different native languages get together.

it is fairly hard to properly address communist china since it wasnt likely to win anything until the japanease lost and they got assistance from the ussr and the allies didnt step up to help the nationalists. curropt though they were technicaly they were the at that time internationaly legitimate government of china.

Really, you shouldn't underestimate the chinese communists.

Bastards they were, but they were clearly politically and strategically savvy. They managed to actually mobilize significant factions of the chinese peasantry, no mean feat that!

erm... yes about that

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KMT

well, it's no better, nor worse than many another government in a country that tried to transition to democracy...

(I could have sworn reading somewhere the figures that were prominent in the early KMT were amongst those that overthrew China's last Emperor - here it is, although it seems Sun Yat-Sen didn't have anything to do with the Successful revolt)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qing_Dynasty

(look for the bit about Sun Yat-Sen)

and more details

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Yat-sen

-----
so yes, it was eventually perceived as by the world at large as "legitimate", it wasn't always seen as such and certainly had it's roots in revolt. Equally interesting is that originally they were "in bed" with the Communists and Leninists...

Do you want more police brigades? Events that destroy all the steel in China? :D

I think brigades are only good for suppressing partisans. But the popularity of communists among Chinese during anti-Jap war cannot be simply reflected by partisans in this game.

I read about partisans in another thread and I agree some of the concerns on the functionality of the partisan. Probably the following suggestions help:

1) don't show the exact partisan figures on the interface. I would prefer an approximate figure with accuracy depends on things like the intelligence of the ministers, degree of openness of the society, activities carried out by other powers, etc.

2) Partisan in a province can be influenced by the original owner of the province. And he knows the degree of partisan activity he carries out (not an approximate figure but exact this time);

3) Other nations who claims to own the same piece of province can also organise partisan activity however the degree of success and influence vary among doctrine and nation. For example, ComChi can make a greater success than a warlord;

4) The province owner thus experiences an aggregate partisan effect of others' activities;

something like that.

btw, it may be hard in programming. But I think it could be a new attractive feature in itself.:rolleyes:

Resources

I have just started a new game as France :p
After a quick survery of resources in its colonies, I find that not many of them except IndoChina are actually worth keeping (no resources - energy, steel, rare resources, oil).

Back to reality, is it so?
Yes and no.
Yes, there are not much resources like energy, steel, rare resources and oil in these places.
No, there are many resources like food which can be translated into supply I think.
Btw, I still remember when I played EU2. There are valuables almost everywhere :rolleyes: Those resources make battles for these provinces much more reasonable.

I tried play CC. I was kinda suprised when the territory I captured went to the nationalist forces...

:confused:

U had captured territories after the China peace event? If so, to avoid the event, declare war to one of the others Chinese warlords when or before Japan attack and u'll never stop fighting NatChi, then the provinces u get belong just to u. This works into mine game.

Well, for the nation that won the civil war, Communist China is still underpowered, but I'm not sure the best way to represent them. After all, the Communists seldom fought in division sized units.

We'll see whether patch 1.2 changes things, although it's unlikely any new events will be added, although initial setup may be changed.

You guys are horribly unreceptive to humour. The 'charm of communism' was obviously meant as a tongue-in-cheek comment. Stop being so serious and have some fun. I have personal reasons for hating the ChiCom but I found it funny.

ComChi believed Stalin for 20 years. Untill they demanded Dalian, which is a port in North China, to be one of their navy bases. :mad: (Because it's deep enough, and do not freeze during winter). Mao refused. And the relationship splted instantly. :( (Fortunate for the people :D )
Never look forward Communists to doing and good. When there is nothing to bite, mad dogs bite each other!
