Correct... only freely-deployable structures (like AA-guns and Radars) get a gearing bonus... it's always been that way, but the tool-tip used to give misleading info.

Is it true that you can actually use serial build now?

In HoI2 if you used serial build they continued on same slow speed and cost no matter what slider changes etc happened. So that making serial build lasting over year was not that benefitical since you missed years sliders and all techs affecting cost/duration.

Is it true that now in doomsday you get benefits of changes even to builds in queue and not only for ones started after change?

It is true what you say in terms of hawk moves, minister changes, some techs etc. effecting builds already running in que, this includes serial runs of anything and factories....not sure on infrastructure but probably that as well. However it does not stop you from building obsolete units, so if you start a run of 99 1936 model infantry and get all the way up to elite infantry tech in the meantime, you are still pumping out the obsolete 1936 units and they will need an upgrade when deployed.

The strange thing was that as SOV i had a line of factories some 10 parallel, some 10 deep lined up all on the same level INFRA provinces.
For 3 series they all completed at the same time. Then i refused the purges (yeah, probably better not to do it, but i felt like refusing :p ) and for a few days half of my factory lines were not funded.
This caused a serious delay (a month or more) in all factories that were not or partially funded as compared to those that kept total funding.

So i would conclude that it seems as if there IS a gearing effect.

"Seems" is correct.

You never GET the gearing bonus... but if you go under-funded, you ARE charged for it.

Never gear your Factories... there are no benefits, and there CAN BE penalties.

This has nothing to do with gearing bonus, but there is a weird effect going on here that I also noticed.

If you start a factory in Moscow (infra 70), it initially says it will finish faster than a factory in a 60 infra province. But when you look at the queue later on, all factories started on the same day finish on the same day regardless of their infrastructure differences. I did three rounds of 25 in a normal difficulty game and this was consistent.

It also did not matter when the factory runs were stopped (zero IC allocation) to deal with the purge events. When I resumed factory production, all factories were finished on the same days unless there was partial funding.

To further complicate any production analysis, you can get production sabotage from enemy spies which randomly goofs up one production line.

If you place anything in a series build, as of non-DD HoI2, and you cease funding it, it will return to the "no work done, 0 of x units completed" state. This is regardless of whether there is a gearing bonus. Try this:

As Persia, start a 36GC, don't change any policy settings, build a factory. Then another one. Then a third. Fund only one factory at a time, starting the new one immediately after the old one is completed.

Now start a new 36GC. Start a series of three factories. Let the game run until the factories are all build. Compare the final date of completion to the first test.

Start a third 36GC. Start a series of three factories. Cut funding to zero a month before the completion of the factory. Restore funding. Let the factory be built. When there is a month left before completion, cut funding to zero. Let the factory be built. Repeat this process for the third factory.

Lo, and behold, the first and second techniques will give you the same length of time to complete three factories. The third technique will take twice as long as the others, less three month.

Its a failing of the game engine. So it goes. Gearing doesn't exist for these builds, and in fact series builds limit your options and can hinder you in this case.
