Well, I played until Sigurdr's death last night and then a bit of Knud's reign. (All without a functioning mouse, which is quite frankly very annoying ) I will try and get Chapter 5 up at some point today, once I head into town and grab a replacement mouse.

Sigurdr 'Snake-in-the-Eye' Chapter V - Hail to the King: (873 – 875)
We set off to raid for hopefully the last time with Sigurdr as a duke, and I notice that Ostlandet has surrounded Sigurdr’s holdings in Norway, place your bets on how long it will take before they declare war…
While Sigurdr’s forces spend the better part of two years raiding France, the coast of Spain and the British Isles I note that Bjorn Ironside has not lived up to his moniker and has died a maimed cripple and his own wife has become incapable. Furthermore, Aslaug (Sigurdr’s mother also known as the person I want to batter over the head with a stick in the Vikings TV series) has died in the dungeons of one of her own sons. (Actually Sigurdr is the last of his brothers to die but more on that in a later chapter.) But in April 875 after a very successful raid, Sigurdr becomes king of Denmark in only nine years, now is the time for consolidation and even more pillaging and raiding to expand our counties before we set our sights on trimming fairhair… (Insert diabolical laugh here)
Okay I swear the next chapter will be longer

I must say I actually like Aslaug in Vikings series. Yeah Lagertha is much, much cooler, but still. I think the two of them are quite nice to see together, being so much different.
I always find it difficult when I had to fight Sigurdr / Björn / Harald, to unite Scandinavia.. problems of liking too many characters.

Speaking of Ostlandet, I'm surprised they haven't managed to form Norway yet, given they frequently do so fairly early in the Old Gods starts I've played in the past.

They actually do not get to form it. (Hint, Hint) I suspect Fairhair was trying to grab territory and save up gold to form the kingdom. In the first screenshot I don't think he has 50% of the de-jure territory.

Sigurdr 'Snake-in-the-Eye' Chapter VI Consolidation: (875 - 880)
Well, Sigurdr is king of Denmark now, so its time to ramp up the tribal organization to make Sigurdr less liked by his vassals. Now we can centralize the realm even more if we wish and revoke infidel titles without cost. The law quickly goes through which is fortunate, becuase who knows how long it will be before Sigurdr’s vassals will be clamouring him to lower the law?
Either way I send Sigurdr and Knud to go on a raid together to form a father son relationship. (Here’s hoping anyway.) Two more years pass, before some crazy old bat claiming to be a seeress comes limping into the hall resulting in Sigurdr keeping her as his court Volva. (She does absolute nothing of note and dies of old age soon enough.)
January 878 comes a calling and Knud wishes to join the Varangian Guard, as long as he does not come back homosexual I am quite content to boot him off to Constantinople. (Let’s just be clear that I am tolerant of all sexual orientations before you readers kill me with pitchforks and torches.)
The next two years pass quickly enough as Sigurdr raids all over the place, even discovering the joys of the rich Mediterranean, while also losing nearly 300 men due to the writer’s incompetence. With the boats nearly full of coin Sigurdr’s forces return home using the most backwards way possible through eastern Europe, and return home with a sizeable amount of coin to boost the coffers as well as prestige.
Fear not folks, the next chapter gets very interesting...

You've done very well so far, who in your neighbourhood could possibly pose a threat to your progress ? No one !
I'll throw out the next chapter at the weekend folks. This last week before Christmas holidays is a bit hectic for me. But, I can certainly write more frequently from next week onwards and have plenty of material to use.
Make the king into a basketball superstar and create a cheesy catchphrase like "BasketDane Champion Incoming" or something.
