Hello everyone,
For the last six months or so I have been working on a re-launch of the 1789 game that I ran some years ago. I thought it was extremely successful at the time, and since the time period is, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating ones in history, I have high expectations for this game.
The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars changed the World in the most fundamental ways. And the Industrial Revolution probably did even more. Pretty much everything that followed this time period is shaped by it - nationalism, colonialism, the emergence of modern political ideologies, etc. And, of course, had this period played out differently we may be looking at radically different 19th and 20th centuries. To me this is a very exciting prospect.
The game will run like most other forum games of this kind do - players will pick a country and will interact with other players in the thread and send orders to me. I will write updates and post updated maps and stats. There is a limit of 12 players for this game. If you really want to play a country that is not very important I may allow IC-only countries on a case-by-case basis. The small player limit also means that I will not let players take countries that are not very important and do not interact with other countries.
If you would like to join the game go ahead and post what countries you would like to play as. I will give a slight preference to those who participated in the first iteration of the game if they would like to reprise their roles. But this does not mean that's a guarantee of a spot or country, it all depends in the end on who asks for what.
Countries that will have players for certain:
- France
- Great Britain
- Spain
- Austria
- Prussia
- Russia
- Ottomans
This leaves five countries that will be assigned based on demand. Signups will be open until next weekend.
Cheers.
