I am playing as Poland, and one of the small Pagan countries declared war on me. I quickly defeated them in the field, but it says that the provinces I am sieging are not losing any moral. I do not have the forces requisite to launch assaults. Why is my sieging so ineffective?

Also, is there a way to add a war goal or something that lets me take these provinces, instead of just making my enemy lose prestige?

Are you assaulting with less men than are garrisoned there? I have found that if this is true, then you will not decrease the morale of the defenders.

As for taking the province, when you declare war on the Character, make sure you have the Casus Belli selected that tailors to what you want to gain from winning the war. For Pagans, Holy War on <Country> should be enough of a Casus Belli to give you the province after you win the war.

You need more men than the enemy troops in the settlement to make a siege.

If you defend yourself, nope. Just prestige in a defensive war, or have them lose their claim.
