In this game Large Lasers are very good when you consider weight, heat, damage, and the laser accuracy bonus. I think I would have kept the Thunderbolts close to a stock loadout with a right arm Large Laser, LRM 15 w/ 2 tons of ammo, SRM 4 w/ 1 ton of ammo, 3 medium lasers, 6 heat sinks, max armor. The mech doesn't operate in a vacuum - it's combining its fire with lance mates so a near stock mixed build with an eye for heat management gives that large laser a good home.

Imma try LLAS on my DRG-1N instead of dead siding it because of how much appreciably better LLAS look stats-wise (that, and the bonus melee damage the DRG-1N gets means it is far too tempting to have it run hot, and it can't run hot if you're only shooting with the ballistic & missile HPs).

For me, the comedy value of watching chat spam-out ludicrous 'builds' and Strafe feeling pressured to implement them is worth it.

I'm guessing it's a good thing he doesn't have a significant stockpile of MGs and/or Flamers around. :p

Man that Onion with 21 heatsinks........WTF

If you had to make a PPC Onion then 2x PPC's with 2x LRM5's with 1 ton and 8 heat sinks

But even then you should be loading that Onion up with some close and personal stuff
The best that I can come up with, mainly because it can't boat anything effective, is an AC20, 2 SRM4's and 2 Medium lasers, 1 ton of SRM and two (or 3) tons of AC20. It is a close combat mech, nothing more. Max heatsinks for a total of 17 I think.

The other one I would do is the rich man's Catapult with 4 medium lasers, 3 LRM15's and 7 tons of ammo. I think it would work ok.

That Cicada's MechWarrior must've looked down at a little star spangled banner in her cockpit, and had a couple of tears spill down her cheek.

'Evasion...'

She surely said to herself,

'...Is for communists!'

And she proudly stood her ground, eschewing the socialist cause of accumulating chevrons, despite being surrounded by heavies.

Does SS get any twitch views when he's not playing the only game in town? Most of his viewers are hating themselves having to sit through his play throughs - I can't imagine anyone sticking around once the embargo is lifted on more streamers.

He mentioned a few days ago that the 700+ viewers has been his highest live audience.

He complains a lot about exclusivity and had something of a rant tonight about the YouTube / Twitch industry being about 'who you know and who you blow', thus his inability to get exposure, as well as has described his currently level of viewership as unprecedented.

So, I think it's safe to say this is a 15 minutes of fame moment for him.

We know we can mod whether or not we lose our 'Mechs when they get cored; altering the amount of salvage generated by cored 'Mechs would be another matter.

Honestly, changing a 1 to a 0 or a 0 to a 1 in a text file is hardly modding. ;) It is effectively just a config file version of a GUI checkbox system using extremely slightly more brain power to activate. I find it really funny that this is considered modding when not very long ago (Ok long ago for the kiddies but not people who were of legal drinking age over half their lifetime ago) editing a cfg file was considered setting up the game to install and play. :)

It's the most basic form of mod possible, but still a mod.

I changed my mind.

I think its a great idea they decided to give early access to streamers for just anyone to watch.

Its not like the game wasn't announced 2 years ago with option of buying into the BETA so those early supporters got things before the game was released.

...wait...oh right...we get badges on a board that a million players won't see because they don't visit the boards.

I hate to sound like a stereotypical older person... but seriously, younger gamers would be amazed at the hoops we had to jump through just to get s**t to work in the first place. At one point I had something like 8 different autoexec.bat options that I chose from to play different games. Yes - you used to have to reboot your PC and have it load the OS with different memory settings just to get games to run......... I still remember how wonderful it was the first time I used memmaker.exe

Edit: I also remember when dos starting letting you load drivers into "high memory"... that was nice.... and oh what a joy - when you booted your PC you could allocate RAM (above 1MB) as extended and/or expanded memory. Some games used one type and some used the other (IIRC expanded was the older option and extended the newer faster option)

Ahh the good old days, the wild west of computer gaming :) I am really happy with how far we have come with computer games and look forward to where we are in 5, 10, 15 years but there are downsides to everything ;)

Was receiving the game ahead of the commercial release something that was promised to us as Backers? The Kickstarter campaign makes no mention of it, and I don't recall HBS promising us early access to the full game at any point.

I remember having to memorize file paths when loading games in DOS... I never put the installed game exe in an easy to remember file location...

No - the only "early access" was to the Backer Beta.
That's my point.

Backers need to stop acting like we're entitled to receiving the game before its release. We aren't.
No, but I feel I've waited quite long enough and demand early access since I paid extra three years ago. :)
That's a shame.
