Hardly terrifying. It just means you've got a good 5-10 minutes to do something else. Most terrifying words spoken by SS: "Let me think...."
Human activities historically have always focused on areas adjacent to water. Most major cities are adjacent to a river or lake. A large, renewable source of water is needed for supporting any large group of people, not to mention being needed for many industrial applications, etc.You should have read the part of the planet descritption that mentioned volcanic islands.
The battle map is only a few square kilometers large. Naturally, human activities will be concentrated to land areas.

Yes they do. Just very little'But if my melee, that will activate the SMLAS and I'll have heat problems...'
Strife, this ain't MWO buddy. SMLAS don't generate heat.
Have the Leopard dropship land, and give fire support if the enemy gets close enough. (Dropships are armed.) This will make it a true 'safer' spot as the player approaches, rather than just an end point. Maybe have the bad guys start firing on the drop ship which would incur C-Bill repair costs once back abord and safe, but not require greater downtime for the mechs being repaired.
Because they are "LosTech." Technically, what the Directorate did in the intro was a war crime.DropShips are mainly considered noncombatants during this time period as well.

Almost. They are still built in limited numbers, but that is only able to barely balance attrition from age because targeting them has been outlawed. If that became legal again, interstellar travel would grind to a halt as nobody could find a dropship to get them to the jumpship. So rare that you aren't supposed to do shit to them because new ones can't be built?
2.8M C-Bills for full Commando from Store, purchase price.

2.7M for two KGC-0000 pieces, able to sell mech's intended for sale anyway to make up nearly all of that before touching a stash of 20+ lasers and ammo stockpiles but passes on it. And still available missions in system. In a throw-away campaign. /headdesk
But only $825k to buy the individual components.
