But with an unforgiving AI those missions would be nearly impossible without cheesy tactics.

I dont think that was pure ai, right when he started this "flanking" you see that the pathing wasnt right. The ai wanted to get around the left side, stopped and turned next round to go right. maybe a map/pathing error for the procedural map part?

I believe it was the terrain that "confused" the AI there. And I have hopes for 4 and 5 Skull Mission too. :bow:

Well, the thing is, there is a huge gap between unforgiving and... the enemy actual shoots at you.
That's been a notable problem in the last several missions:

Late last night he had a 4G hunchback walk up in front of his centurion and... brace
This morning he had a griffin that wouldn't fire PPC shots, even at zero heat.
In this last mission, the enemy heavies both turned their backs to his mechs. The enforcer behaved appropriately (jump and fire), but nothing else among the reinforcements did.


If they re-evaluate targets round by round rather than focus fire each of your mechs apart, I can generally get that.
But not shooting at all at low/zero heat? Something in the AI priority list is just wrong.
Presenting backs? Someone completely screwed the pooch.

On top of that, he once briefly looked at Zathras in the upper Northwest corner of the star map. It was about 6 jumps away, cost about 180k to travel (? I don't remember exactly), but it only took 27 days or so. As I remember it, it didn't seem to be overly expensive to travel halfway across the star map.

And the thunderbolt just sat in the water without firing all the energy weapons it had even on 0 heat. I hope devs will see this.

This really opened my eyes to instability bonus weapons to knock down enemy mechs more easily. 3 Wounds to KO a fresh mech looks absurdly good. Even a 4 wound pilot in a heavy mech that can take a beating looks feasible. It was fun to watch him get the Thunderbolt 5SE... I think the good luck charm for doing this was keeping Dekker alive.

Spell it out to me like I'm 3yo, want get this method down for my own run(s).

Best / easiest way to get mech part salvage it to put arrow to its knee so it gets knocked down and then core it?

Edit: Or method is turning enemy pilot into meat paste?
