So once pilot has 3 skills you can't "re-educate" them and swap skills around?

Looking at stream now it looks like once 3 are lock game removes rest of possible skills from skill branches.

That's right, and actually, the game will remove the two other lines once you pick your second one!

...of course, the third has to come from one of the first two lines.

There are a couple of names in chat, maybe one in particular that's so salty and immature it becomes much more enjoyable if you just turn chat off and let the stream happen. Seriously, some people there need to take their blood pressure meds. A shame you can't block specific people on Twitch.

In a way videogame design has failed if you need hit wikias, streams, Q&As and rulebooks just to learn basic and core principles. For deeper understanding and advanced play I can see those being helpful resource, but game should teach you its core. Battletech really doesn't and it shows in these streams.

Also I would say NGNGtv guys know their shit, they just have to adapt that knowledge into this games altered ruleset.

What, he couldn't spend 1 hour to watch the how to videos by HDS and Paradox??? I have no knowledge of BattleTech, but I know 10 times more than him.

I can't watch him anymore; not because of the mistakes, which are fine, but because no tension or excitement knowing that if he ever gets into trouble he'll just Withdraw. Outside of a freak headshot, all of his Mechwarriors are basically invincible and that makes it dull for me to watch. :|

Sounds like the way I'd play, I get way too attached to me little pixel men. :D But yeah, it wouldn't make a good show.

The reason why Cohh is so entertaining to watch is how he stumbles through the campaign -- but maintains good humour about it and graciously accepts advice. There's continuous hilarity and good-natured back-and-forth with the chat. I don't mind at all that he's not commanding like a Carlyle, it's fun to see Mr. Everyman at it.

As far as Sidestrafe, I've always enjoyed his Youtube videos. His videos of MWO brought me back to 'mechs after a long hiatus. I've never felt he quite has the energy (for lack of a better word) to be a big-name live streamer.

Yep. You can't mindwipe your pilots.

I... have a very different take away from the Grey Death Legion books. He's commanding quite like a Carlyle- wandering from crisis to crisis like a teenager with a concussion, but eventually coming out ahead.

He just told off his chat for the nth time and claimed not to care about stream numbers. That in fact that he's looking forward to release so people will go away and play their way without bothering him

Good for you for having different priorities than Cohh. Not a shot at you, just reality. He streams 8+ hours every day and dedicates his free time to his wife, son and pets.

You can click their name in chat and select the little "chat bubble" icon (below the close screen X) and that will BLOCK the user.

He have some nicely done Mechs at start. Like that AC/10 Shadowhawk
Eh. I dislike his composition. He's removed all jumpjets, and all but one shadowhawk are close-range brawlers. Of the three brawlers, that SH does the least, and all of them have heat problems.

He's currently facing 3 wolverines (including 1 or 2 laser variants) with two (actually 3, but two are lights) other mechs drifting around in the background.
Sadly, he's focusing on the one mech that keeps bracing (largely to cool down).

He's also put himself in a bowl, and doesn't have the maneuverability to escape. If the other two mechs would just engage, he'd be having real problems.

They can still learn. They just can't specialize in every single aspect of mech warfare.

And it isn't what I'm asking for. I know you can still max out all skilltree lines, but not get special skills from them.

Just surprised that (as far we know) game doesn't let you re-educate (read: respec) pilots into new fields of specialty in exchange for e.g. large fee. But then I guess you just build those education pods and setup for yourself nice pilot mill.

While it was a bad move to get "death-bowled" he handled himself pretty well there.

As we keep saying: dumb AI.
But I guess that's an unpopular opinion.

Helps that the AI refused to close range and melee with its injured mechs, instead plinking with 1ml per turn. Also griffin used its LRMs for indirect fire nearly every turn instead of its PPC

At this point in the beta I'm willing to say that the AI is just straight up bad, it plays worse than I can imagine most players will be after their first hour or two at least in terms of outputting damage; target selection is a different matter entirely

The only reason that mission lasted that long is because the OpFor (unusually) had full armor. Then, it attacked in isolated groups which were degraded/partially destroyed by the time the others joined in (exactly the complaint we had in the beta). On top of that, it kept making obviously sub-optimal moves like firing ONE ML for 25 damage instead of engaging in melee for 75.
SideStrafe again played it like a newb and learned almost nothing from the process. And why should he?
