I know I was. I thought the game would be more entertaining sans any empires. So by going into the history->titles folders in the CK2 steam folders, I was able to remove all of the e_ files. I.e. HRE, Byzantines, Timurids, Seljuks, etc.

It's made for a significantly more interesting game while being very easy to restore! :)

High CA is too easy to get in general I think, and too simplified. Need some more empire-building mechanics as far as I am concerned.

On topic: Yes, it makes for a fun experience. You can also delete the k_persia, k_egypt and k_france files to avoid über blobbing by those.

Oddly, removing the Byzantines as a cohesive empire actually does *ALOT* to keep the greek orthodoxy together as the various muslims can't invade the duchy's, only holy war them, which gets the other greeks in on it; and also prevents the losses from being huge if the war is lost as it's only a duchy vs a kingdom.

Biggest problem I've run into with it is that it makes the Romuva and the Suomonesko's super super strong as they can conquest conquer everything while the christians are stuck holy warring, which gets the holy war defense mob going.

HRE should really drop a level in crown authority whenever a new emperor is elected who is NOT of the same dynasty as the previous emperor.

The electors had a fancy for electing whichever emperor who was least capable or ambitious and least interested in messing with their personal affairs.

Whenever they elected a new king/emperor, it was usualy to the benefit of the lower nobility and many of emperor had to bribe their way in by granting favors and exemptions from imperial rule to the electors. Often just crippling any further potential for centralised authority and control.

They did not take it historically, yet in many of my games they are. It is just silly when they take Mali

(in one of my games they even moved the capital of the HRE to the sahara...)

IMO the only real problem is the HRE.. The byzantines crumble in most of my games because of OP fatimids :)

Right now, I think the DLC I want to see the most, is a HRE and or generic empire DLC, dealing with the way the HRE is represented.

It just feels too much like any other state in the game.

Paradox games just cannot simulate logistics/supply the right way. Sending 50k medieval soliders to north african and atlas mountains and moving them around assaulting towns in matters of weeks is just not feasible back then. There are no similuation of wagon trains slowing down the armies, weather, or adquete simulation of terrain. 20K european knights cannot survive in a desert for weeks

This can be solved easily by just decreasing the ridiculous supply limits for provinces (especially desert and mountain provinces).

I totally agree the HRE is a massive boring grey blob in the middle of the map which needs to be brought to life. I think if the Pope was more able to interfere in HRE affairs and internal ruptures were more common then it would be more fun. A HRE DLC would be great!

Agreed. It should be harder for a big blobbing emperor to have absolute crown authority. Like he ever had such authorities.

I think a lot of the issues with the HRE and its historical weakness aren't properly modeled in game due to the lack of depth with the Papacy. When the Catholic DLC comes out we shall see what we shall see, but it's likely to improve the weakness of the HRE... and maybe other Catholic Empires as well.
