If I've fought, taken, occupied, garrisoned and some times even cored some land, why does the game feel the need to rip this land away from me in the peace conference against my will?

I don't consent, if the other countries participating in the war don't like it they can fight me. Why am I forced out just so I have to retake this land?

It's been 4 years since release and peace conferences still have this glaring issue.

Current game limitations means handing out occupations is an opaque mess, and it's very possible for you to be occupying land you didn't actually work to conquer (see the Eastern front and Romania in most vanilla games). Others do get a penalty for taking land occupied by you (especially if they aren't part of the same faction) but changing the system for peace conferences without altering the issues with occupation will break more things than it fixes

It's also pretty easy to take advantage of the process, especially if you lead or even are second in war score. If you puppet in a single province, you can then easily grow your puppet as each core province is very cheap. If you block access (take all coast provinces), you can have 40% war score but take 80% of provinces. It is harder for democracies.

As Yugoslavia, I caused 2 million Axis casualties.
I forced Bulgaria and Austria-Hungary to capitulate. My troops entered Vienna, Budapest and Sofia.
And that was barely enough points in the peace conference to puppet Albania. I didn't even get Zara and Istria.
Heck, I had no intentions of puppeting any country, even after everything I did in the war. I just wanted Zara and Istria. Kinda also hoped to grab Banat.

So I promptly loaded my previous save and installed Player-Led Peace Conferences mod.

Occitania anyone? France getting balkanized despite winning
Because If a country Capitulates, despite being liberated in the same war, still becomes subject to demands to countries on the winning side.

It doesn't make much sense for the UK to grant parts of its ally's territory independence.
Or for the soviet union to install communist governments in countries that they're not even occupying.

So I promptly loaded my previous save and installed Player-Led Peace Conferences mod.
Yeah, I installed that a few days ago. Finally had enough.
