How would you play them in games where new world exodus strats are forbidden?(like 90% of the mp games, for obvious reasons ;>)

A few patches ago you could just wait and get to the spice islands,
this is not possible anymore because of the tidore/ternate nerf which affected this strat, too.

India/Indochina players will see you now waaaaay earlier and can just start a no cb war
while you're still week and have no chance to build a navy to counter them
except if you got lucky with a goldmine early on(2-5%chance) and build way over your naval limit.

Staying in Siberia is just not possible because of the dev cost.

A single bad ruler and you'll be behind for all eternity. On top of that you don't have any estates
which slows everything even more down.

And at least 2-3 ppl always playing Tribes/Japan/Korea so you have to carfully watch them
and do not colonize anything near them, too soon.

Sadly the NI's are also worse than even the standard ideas so you don't have much room to work
around and need a very specific idea set to survive.
And explo/eco are the first two you just have to pick now which makes you an even easier target once discovered.

So any ideas how to get it started in mp games without malacca/moluccas/phillipines(except no other major is in that area) and the new world exodus kinda locked out? :>

While it may be stating the obvious, it seems they're just...not playable under the conditions you set. Can I suggest another nation?
