oh, see i understand. for example gibraltar is owned by Britain but is a self governing island like Puerto Rico and hong kong??? is that right?

and like these other self governing islands Anguilla, Bermuda, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man, Montserrat, Pitcairn Islands, Saint Helena, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands all owned by britian (and some have olympic teams too)

Many US states have self-government too, and many of those listed aren't even on the map. All countries like Gibraltar and Puerto Rico are owned by the respective mother governments because we don't have enough tags to do otherwise. I'm not taking out Canada so we can have Gibraltar.

I was just using an example to show the limitation of tags.

You're free to look at our country list in the Country IDs and tags page. I can't list every single governing province that is missing, because I don't know them all. Many US states have more autonomy than a lot of these as well.

In terms of what areas are empty, there are a couple areas in the Carribean and then a couple areas in the Pacific.

this is what i ment, and even though sates in us have self governing they r really still one country though so i do under stand that, and the limiation of tags)

i suppose those states are like N.Ireland Wales and Scotland that can change minor things such as tax but not pass major laws, but are still part of the same unified country of great britian and norther ireand like those staes are part of the usa.
