My current favorite is a lovely state called the Domination

Human main race- slow breeders, unruly, thrifty, intelligent, quick learners (Dominus)
Necrophage origin

'Klingon' serf/aspirant race -slow learners, fleeting, rapid breeders, strong (Servus)

Imperial Fanatic Xenophobe/Militarist

Civics: Pleasure Seekers, Reanimators (third civic Memorialists)

Homeworld: Tartarus, Superhabitable (planetary diversity mod)

Ascension: Biological

I keep minor races that can inhabit biomes my core races don't favor, otherwise they get necropurged.

Goal: Galactic Emperor (or I go Crisis if the mood strikes)

I don't have a decent screenshot of them, but here's one from my last successful Imperial campaign

I based them on the Necromongers from the Riddick movies combined with the Gou'a'uld from StarGate. Mainly a fanfic crossover of the Draka/Stargate series. They are cruel, manipulative, ethereally beautiful and obsessed with carnal pleasures and material delights. And of course of accruing power and dominating all lesser species. Favored individuals from subject species are 'offered' Ascension, where their minds and bodies are molded to the perfection of the Dominus and take their place as citizens of the Domination. Un-needed species are violently turned into Reaper-style genetic goop for re-assembly as Dominae.

All must submit to the Domination in one way or the other.

I like this one. Bombing enemy worlds into new homes for them to live on (taking advantage of radiotrophic), and reaching into space to claim it as their dominion as the gods intended. Led by the fearsome Buttercup, they will bring the galaxy under their heel.

Also, I just went on the workshop, and holy crap there's a Tomb world terraforming mod compatible with 3.1! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2625663437&searchtext=tomb

My favorite is probably the one I made a while back, a bunch of weird goat people obsessed with the idea of perfection:

I don't have a screenshot, but:

League of Eternity

Species: Eternal
Traits: Natural Engineers, Talented, Enduring, Traditional, Unruly
Portrait:
93px-Humanoid_hp_01.png

Ethics: Militarist, Materialist, Egalitarian
Government: Oligarchic
Civics: Master Crafters, Idealistic Foundation (Third is usually Meritocracy)
Origin: Remnants or Shattered Ring

Homeworld: Radiance
Star Name: Eternity

Leader Name: Mara Opus
Leader Title: Exarch

Shipset: Imperial
Cityset: Arthropoid (I just like how it looks )

My lore for them is that they're the broken remains of some old fallen empire that fell back to pre-FTL technology after a galactic calamity. Instead of stagnating like the other fallen empires, though, their culture collapsed into the perfectionist zealotry that it is now, which pushed them to rocket back up the pre-FTL tech tree and rejoin the galactic stage.
