Federations? You mean the completely necessary feature, that without having you definitely cannot survive as a native, and totally alters the experience of play EU4? You mean the feature that is DEFINITELY crucial to even SURVIVING in the new world? Why are you even trying to join a federation, exactly? It serves absolutely no purpose. Finally they broke that useless feature. If you actually play native tribes, you aren't using federations my dude. I haven't tried any ironman campaigns as a native in at least 3 years, but last I checked you should be taking stab hits to war any tribes around you. Unless you are picking consistently smaller tribes, like Pequot or something, why do you even need allies? There isn't a North American that can support more than 10 troops, other than maybe Iroquois. So who are you needing these defense side federations for? They don't even join invasions, so waht good are they? The ONLY scenario federations have ever made sense, since Day 1 of EU4, was in the off chance you were worried Iroquois were going to invade. Or a particularly strong Shawnee, or something. Already incredibly obscure use cases that only .0001% of the player base will encounter.
Your post really is evidence why Paradox hasn't, and will continue, to ignore you guys. No, "federations being broken" is not the thing to make 500 whiney forum posts about (btw there is a bug report section). Nor your 100+ development capital that actual represents a smaller fraction of games than you realize. Make a post about a feature you think should be added. I have read pages of suggestions from people with ideas for the americas. Federations are a fundamentally broken feature, hence why this patch breaks them. They are not implemented well, or as intended. So OFFER A SUGGESTION, not complain. These are different actions and you guys just aren't getting it yet.
Now, words are meaningless, so paradox will either decide to accept your suggestions or not. If any of you cared, put your money up. Are you guys seriously suggesting im the only one that cares enough about this game that he would toss half a million of his own money to develop it? Do something. Make a mod. I'm not a coder myself, but I've put out some smaller mostly text based mods in the past.
Maybe this is an absolute SHOCK to you, but you can go into the games files and edit the federation code yourself? Like what is the issue? You are waiting for paradox to fix a feature that you can just write LITERALLY ONE SINGLE LINE OF CODE to fix. Or change in any way you want. You want more flavor events? Copy some stuff off wiki, past it in a notepad, copy the Mean Time To Happen code from another, preexisting event with similar parameters, and save it in the folder. You want polynesian advisors? Literally less than an hour to google pictures of polynesians and cut them out and add them to game. This stuff isn't hard.

Because I want to form Iroquois. But maybe if Paradox had said in the dev diaries “this is how Federations will work, but by the way the AI has paranoid schizophrenia and you’ll have to mod it out yourself”, that would be fine.
Also, no, AI behaviour isn’t a matter of a single line of code. You do realise that not everything in this game is an event, right?
But you seem either to be joking or literally insane, so I don’t think this is useful.

I don't know dude, isn't the federation stuff just to get colonists? Can't you just +1 colonist to them? Seems like a lot of work to sit around making whiney forum posts, hoping in a year the maybe 10 man team at paradox patches your feature instead of, i don't know, doing it yourself.

From beginning to end, this thread has players telling other players aren't actually playing the game because they don't play enough or don't play the way they do.
We are one community loving our game, more or less depending on circumstances. That doesn't make a group of players more valuable or more worthy.
