Shouldn't sateliting change the form of Government of the Satelited Country?

I came to ask because I founded it odd when my Satelite, for whatever reason turned Communist, I declared war on it and re-satelitted it back, thinking it would change Government back to my own (Const. Monarchy).

It is also odd that a Communist Government, after a coup remains as a Satelite of the Mother nation. >_>

Yeah this seems reasonable. If I remember correctly (it's been quite a while  ) but that is what happens in HoI isn't it?? The changing of a satellite to your form of government, I mean. Perhaps this is something that those working with the source code might consider (hint hint! ;) ). I don't really pay much attention to my satellites if I have them, however, I'm just happy they're there! :)

You do remember correctly, and it does seem reasonable to me - after all you are forcing them to be your puppet.

Just because a nation becomes a satellite overnight, does not mean the rule of government imposes itself overnight.

Maybe, but in Vicky it never changes. Some sort of compromise between this and HOI would be good.

9 times out of 10 (if not more) when a nation becomes a puppet, this is down to regime change within that nation. It is quite rare for, say, a defeated government to keep in power and accept being a puppet regime after losing a war, or whatever. Also, nations granted independence would usualyl be granted this under certain provision that generally complied with the mother nations' political system. These are the general cases, however.

By breaking the alliance and declaring war, or if they have a revolt which changes their constitution, this will end their satellite status I believe.
Yes, unlike EU2 where you can end the vassalage peacefully, you have to DoW on them or wait while they have a revoltuion.

That is yet another area that could be tweaked by source code developers... perhaps a 'UDI' button for a nation which is a satellite, or a 'grant full independence' button for a satellite/dominion master??

That would be a good idea, I've never seen a country declare war on his satellite just to make it free. This is really nonsense.

Yes indeed. Surprising this wasn't sorted beforehand... it was always going to be a strange point of the game, especially when taking into account other satellite-releasing systems in other Paradox games.

Another problem: Is anyone ever saw a AI Satelited Country declare war on it's Master? I never saw it happen, even if you're 200 ranked Saxe-Weimar with the UK and USA has your satelites.

Well nobody ever said satellited Great Powers would actually want to stay under the thumb of a 200th place German state. :p

Seriously, though, it rather makes sense, assuming the Brits and the Americans didn't want to be under the thumb of a 200th place German state.
