Should The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands get there own provinces?

Especially given the Northern Europe map update coming with 1.16. Should these two areas get there own provinces?

Maybe Hong Kong as well? Especially since we already have Macau.

But these areas are historically significant. England was left with the Channel islands after the hundred years war and the Isle of Man always had a good amount of autonomy in England and changed hands multiple times in the medieval period

I'd rather have the Low Countries split up in more provinces to better reflect Dutch economical and geo-political power in the 16th and 17th centuries. It might even make the revolt more succesful than it is now.

Speaking as a Channel Islander, no. What benefit does a 1/1/1 fish (later grain, arguably) province in the Channel have for gameplay? Jersey had strategic significance, but it's not something the game can model in its current state. Unless Mare Nostrum is going to have some sort of naval fort mechanic, all it adds is the potential for a gamey method of trapping English/French AI armies. I'd like to see the Channel Islands in the game one day, but what we've seen so far of Mare Nostrum doesn't give us any reason to suspect that we're in a position where it'd be a good idea yet.

Spoken like a true imported islander from the finance industry (I have never met someone born in the islands who refers to themselves as a "channel islander", the inter-island rivalry would never permit it). Jersey has a rich history during this period, was strategically important, highly developed economy for the time. In addition to this, the many harbours and fortifications of the island had huge impact on trade and shipping. The trade good could easily be furs, because the extreme rabbit population was often heavily farmed for both meat and for using in making clothes and wears.

Channel Islands I guess would be fun - adding more flavour.

Isle of Man is a must in my opinion as it would add more strategy as an Irish minor or as Scotland. It would even be fun if it was a march of england, so you could play as the isle of man and try to conquer the British isles!

Yes, clearly what EU4 needs are two tiny provinces that will have almost zero impact on their surroundings and be harder to click than Frankfurt for the sole purpose of pandering to a certain crowd. Clearly they are far more pressing and deserving of being added than many other places on the map - it's not as if Portugal, Albania/Epirus, Japan, the Philippines, or Arabia are in need of an expansion.

Provinces can be enlarged, you know. I do think Isle of Mann will be useful though.

I can't play my home country because the province it's located in doesn't exist. This product excludes me even though it's leading advertisement tag line is along the lines of "lead your historical nation to victory... blah blah blah."

Of course, my country is almost entirely composed of white people, so I can't even play the excluded minority card to get the basic features that everyone else enjoys.

I think he's mostly saying that the British Isles are already very well developed when compared to Arabia or Southeast Asia. It's not that he wants to deny you anything. Using your same argument I'm sure a lot of people can say that their nations are underrepresented. Manila was a vassal of Brunei after all. Should I ask Paradox to put them in so I can play as my country? I'd rather they add/fix features instead of adding provinces.

Nevertheless in the case of for example the Channels isles, these did defy Parliament the longest during the English Civil war and for a while it was where Charles II held a semblance of a court.
