hey, there is talk about an expansion which would make the game alot better. and i would want to know if we could get it for free like the witcher extended edition (if you had the first version you could download the better one for free)the game WAS VERY buggy and crappy when many of us bought it ( i myself spent 40 euros on it that momentairly i consider wasted)

so would we have to pay for it?

It shouldn't. I want Paradox to sell so much of it that they later can hire another dozen of people to add-on Vicky2 and create CK2.

This doesn't make any sense. If it is a stand alone you will get free a bigger game (vanilla+expansion),if it is a normal expansion nobody would buy it without hoi 3 vanilla.

No, I don't mind paying for it, but some recognition for having participated in what amounts to a beta test (attempting to play hoi3 since release) would be appropriate.

If you want that, it's better to give donations to Paradox, and not force us to pay more for a «Patch Expansion». We now are already contributing by buying the game, making mods, and increase the level of the Game. But we have to pay more for a «Patch Expansion»?

Imagine that you go to a Furniture Store, and you order some furniture for your house. When the carriers arrive to your house with the furniture you look and say: - Well this furniture is broken and the wood is cracked. You call to the furniture store and they say: - Don't be worried we will send some woodworker and they will fix the furniture.
The woodworkers arrive to your house fix the cracked wood with some mortar and the furniture know "fixed" looks ugly, but still have cracks.
You return to call to the Furniture Store and they say to you: - Well we have try(in first place you sold us a cracked furniture), if you want we could pay us for a carpenter to fix better your furniture.
Did we have to pay for a new fix on a furniture cracked that have been sold to us?

If there's going to be an expansion for HOI3 it will include things that were not possible to include in vanilla HOI3's original planning or were demanded by us after playing HOI3.

For me, it's fair to pay for these things.

- Orange text makes no sense whatsoever and doesn't apply to this situation at all. Paradox as a part of their warranty already released a number of patches and will release one more soon enough. But to keep working on the game and implement new features to it, they need to get paid more cause families of developers eat food for which they pay with your money, not your gratitude. :)
- My point is: Free add-on would be low-budget and noone would like it.

If they were to give me an expansion, I'd be willing to betatest it for them, much as I've been doing for Hoi3.

I cannot rationalize giving them more money, however, until they demonstrate a commitment to disciplined development. Hoi3 was a sloppy and amateur product. I'd need to see a dramatic improvement in PI's development philosophy and a commitment to quality in everything that goes out the door before I can continue to financially support their work.

Why would I give donations to Paradox so you can get a game for free?

Because the principle of donation is to give for free will some money for something you want(in this case a gift for developing like Wikipedia*).
If perhaps the only way to help economically company Paradox it's buying products, then you'll be buying things that do not correspond with your primary motivation. So for all of us that we want Vicky2 or anything else developed would have to buy almost all the Paradox games, even those who we do not want.

doesn't apply to this situation at all. Paradox as a part of their warranty already released a number of patches and will release one more soon enough.

Yes it is true, however, the patches that have been released didn't yet corrected everything, and the game continues in many aspects unplayable. To percept this, just see the forum or the tips given by many, many players, and you will see how the metaphor of my furniture store corresponds with this situation, they were mending the situation, but the furniture was still defective.

I think that we have to find a good Balance like Aristhotle's.

My purpose is that people who have buyed HOI3 receive for free the expansion, and people who hadn't buy HOI3, need to buy HOI3 and Expansion. Don't forget that this community give much to Paradox:)

*I know this is a Enterprise and not wikipedia organization, but this only a example.

Will gladly pay for it. I am sure 1.4 will patch the few reamining bugs and the expansion will be new content hence the new cost. Price point will be important as I would want some serious new features to warrant another $40CDN.

Somehow our gamedevelopers want to get food in their stomach and a roof over their head, so this idea is not going to fly.
