I would expect new anomalies and tech cards to be a given with every major patch/dlc

Also a big yes for B5 being better than ST and Battlestar Ugh - high school melodrama edition

Babylon 5 is only the best SF tv show ever created. Star Trek is close second.

Believe it!

"Aaaaaaaa... mr Morden!"

babylon5-animated-gif-11.gif

(couldn't find a picture from the actual moment)

Most satisfying moments ever! Mollari, G'Kar, Vir, Ivanova, Garibaldi, Bester... so many awesome characters. From all of ST only Garak, Gul Dukat and Odo were that awesome.

PS. Although B5 has "case of the week" episodes it is much more focused on telling the single story.

I see Babylon 5 referenced a ton around here, but I've never seen it. How does it compare to Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica?

Its better than DS9, and was the original draft for DS9 too btw somewhat adapted for the trekkie universe ;)
In case you wonder where the sudden interest startrek suddenly developed in cultural relations, managing neutrals & hostiles and religion. Oh and that big mysterious creeping outside threat just waiting to pounce (ahem founders/shadows).

More anomalies and techs with patches? I surely wont complain about that. Keep filling Stellaris up with stories like they do with Sunless Sea, that would be awesome.
But I dont expect any freebies in that regard. Put them with the DLCs if you want, Paradox. I'm happy if only the game gets bigger, better and even more complex in some way.

Yes, but...

Babylon 5s creator presented his first draft to paramount, but they werent interested. Not long after that, they made DS9 which does have some striking similarities in concept. So the rumor is that paramount stole the idea, alledgedly.
Paramount says DS9 was already in production at the moment Stracynzky came around with B5, so make of that what you will.

Fact is DS9 has some unique ideas like the wormhole and the shape changing aliens, and neither B5 nor DS9 are the first SF-shows set on a base, so I'm cautious to not throw blame around.

B5 is still so much better than DS9, tho.

I've suggested around here that a system be created for players to make suggestions of plots and storylines for anomalies and quests.

That way they'd guarantee a diverse and non-repetitive source ideas for it,

I would think that the difficulty in adding new anomalies would be in writing them and having them be interesting and entertaining. And I'd rather the writers take their time and give us the good stuff than rush out boring anomalies because patch 1.x is ready to roll.

Gently be inspired by the anomalies from series like Star trek (which I see they've already been in some aspects), they've been writing them for decades.

Even if you're done with plundering star trek storylines, there is 50 more years of obscure plots in doctor who.
The hand of fear, the invisible enemy, the ark in space, ... all of those space centred episodes could be taken as inspiration.

To quote Phillip Hinchcliffe: "Every doctor who story begins with an original idea. I doesn't have to be your original idea."

The same would be true for anomalies. :D

Me? But I have a Samsung Galaxy?
Perhaps, but the idea that 1.10 is different to 1.1 is a modernistic Apple idea.:p Originally the industry followed the impeccable logic that a fraction is the same with or without an extra zero.:p 0.1 = 0.10 = 0.100. :)

Incidetally, PDS actually follow the old way AFAIK. 1.9 gave way to 2.0 in CK2 IIRC.

Eu4 is in 1.16.3 tho? And for games it actually makes sense because you only get 9 patches otherwise.

They have said that they wanted the feel in stellaris of exploring a vast and mysterious galaxy. I do not know the amount of:
- Technologies
- Anmolaities
- Colony Events
- End-game Disasters
- Species portraits
that are in the game, but I'm sure that they are enough. To begin with.
After people start reach into 100 hours played, with systems explored in the 10, 000 things will get repetative.

The amount of events do not need to be huge in the beginning, but it will need to be continually increasing. I really hope it does. Pretty much in the same way as EUIV is always adding a few new provinces, new national ideas, new national events, I hope Stellaris adds Technologies, anomalities and Colony events. To always keep it (somewhat) fresh.
