Hello.

When you run social welfare or shared burdens, you get 1 unity per unemployed pop. When you run utopian abundance, you additionally get 2 research. These yields are not influenced by stability, governor skill or the traits of the unemployed pops.

Question: *Should* these modifiers apply to these yields?

In my opinion, it would make sense for an intelligent species to produce more research even when unemployed, or a traditional species to produce more unity. This would also be a good way to buff intelligent/traditional, which are otherwise pretty weak traits right now. High stability or governor skill should maybe also have an effect here.

Do you think giving unemployed pops on utupian abundance these bonuses would make them too strong, particularly compared to normal researchers?

Hi!

Question: *Should* these modifiers apply to these yields?

Yes.

Do you think giving unemployed pops on utupian abundance these bonuses would make them too strong, particularly compared to normal researchers?

Oh. Hm. Yeah possibly? What's the comparison there? i.e. how many consumer goods does a researcher consume vs. an unemployed person?

Oh. Hm. Yeah possibly? What's the comparison there? i.e. how many consumer goods does a researcher consume vs. an unemployed person?

Ok, let's compare them based on consumer goods use: If we assume that 1 unity is about equal value to 0.5 research, and we can get -25% consumer goods use, then we get:
-> 2.5/0.75 ~ 3.33 research per consumer good for unemployed pops on utopian abundance.

Researchers produce 4 research base yield, and potentially get the following modifiers:
-> +30% from stability
-> +20% from governor skill
-> +10% from governor trait
-> +60% from techs
-> +15% from research institute
-> +20% from erudite or intelligent + psionic
-> +10% from fanatic egalitarian
-> +20% from ecumenopolis
=> +185% research

This means one researcher produces 4*2.85 = 11.4 research. Also, the researcher needs 1.6 + 0.75 = 2.35 consumer goods.
-> 11.4/2.35 ~ 4.85 research per consumer good for researchers.

The researcher is clearly more efficient than the unemployed pop. Also, the researcher needs less food, housing and amenities. The only advantage of the unemployed pop is that it doesn't need a research lab. It would be interesting how many of these researcher bonuses could be applied to the unemployed pop before it becomes too stong... For example, I don't think the +60% from techs, the +10% from egalitarian or the +15% from the research institute would make sense, maybe also not the +10% from the governor trait.
