the trick is to close your eyes and rub them for a good few seconds. this will prevent the blindness, and allow you to play for days uninterrupted. Of course, there is the risk of a permanent side effect that everything will start to appear as flat as your computer screen :)

I usually check out the demand. Most people buy the first person shooter games so there's always copies available.

However if the preorder at the store is up then I do a full prepay.

Yep get it everytime that way:rolleyes:

In all honesty, no.

Paradox is notorious for releasing games a tad too early. I don't think I need to remind anyone who purchased HOI on the day of release how frustrating the 1.0 build was to play.

Just wait a tick, no more than a month I'd say, and if you shop at any EB games I'll wager you'll be able to pick up a used copy at a decent price.

This is not a comment on the potential for Victoria; far from it. I think it will be great, and most likely one of the best games to come out of Paradox. But I'm doubtful it will be in the best shape as a 1.0.

I think it will need patches but Patric said thats the most stable game they made so far. So my theory is that this game will be more or less done in 1.0. And then just some game balance crap.

What do you base this theory on? Patric's word? No offense meant to Patric but I'll believe it when I see it. And trust me, I'll gladly eat my words (and purchase a copy very shortly after release) if it is a stable, sound game.

I base what I say purely on past experience. I've been burnt by purchasing a few of their games day-of-release and I shant be doing it again. Not, at least, until the stove has had a chance to cool.

Not to mention that 1.0 is the version when the game has gone gold. After that it takes a while before it's actually in the shelves, so propably there will be a 1.1 patch here when you have the game in your hands.

I guess ill just get it as soon as my local store gets it.

Wasn't there a patch released the same day as the game was released? HOI 1.00 was not cool.

I never pre-order (unless it is a game which will not be in retail stores). For things like EU II and HOI they were not flying off the shelves (HOI did sell out in my EB - but not in the first week). SO my problem is that my local EB doesn't get them in soon enough - oh that's not due until tomorrow - the UPS delivery has not come yet - the warehouse has not gotten them in - they are somewhere between the warehouse and here...
