should i join the HRE as emporer?

I recently got the luckiest emperorship ever (got a PU with the emperor that took over after the league war ended like a week after the end of the war, because i was allying the three electors so i could just delete the HRE) but the empire is in a really sad state right now because the palatinate was the emperor most of the game, so there are only 34 members, 20 of which are heretics, and they hadn't even passed the first reform (which i did using all the IA from adding most of my territory to the empire).

My biggest concern with joining the empire myself is it knocks me back down to duchy rank. I'll eventually get back to kingdom because i have a PU with an OPM elector, who gives me elector when i inherit him in 50 years plus the grace of RNGesus

if i hire a bunch of electors and join the empire myself the empire would be sitting at -0.17/month

If you kill all the electors you become emperor in perpetuity. There will be the ticking IA problem but who cares, you only need to pass up to hofgericht (just add provinces for that) and HRE will still exist with 0 princes.

being emperor got other good sides... extra man power+force limit , bonus income from free cities and all wonderfull things
english culture is not huge afterall... scotland and cornwall not filling huge devolpment and if you so desire you can easly convert those lands to english culture. so being emperor is not everyting matters

currently there might a bug in game I think... in my seriba and castille runs I joined hre and none of them reduced my rank to duchy instead I remained as kingdom... test it and "crash" game to check if you want to see if works for you too
