After seeing this amazing offer at bundlestars which is selling all of the expansions and game for only 5 bucks, I am tempted to buy it. I really don't know though, is it worth getting in this "late?" Is it worth it to start playing it when HOIV is coming out in the first quarter of 2015.

I dont want to be a downer, but you simply never know. I waited long and patiently for two games that never ended up hitting the market. Now i dont expect that to happen, but it seemed a surprise to other PI people when it was tossed out there the game would be available by Q1 2015. That means it quite possibly be longer. If you want to wait 6 months or so for HOI4 to come out, go ahead, but if your a gamer, and its cheap id say get it and get your feet wet and have fun too!

Experience tells us that new Paradox titles need some patches to work proberly. So even HoI4 is released first quarter 2015 it doesnt mean it is in a good condition.

HoI3 left the big patch phase, has some DLC, many mods....so yeah...for 5 bucks it is worth it. And looking at your signature HoI3 would be your first HoI game? For 5 bucks you will get a good overview over the complexity.

Yeah, Paradox has been canceling a lot of games, most notably the game-whose-name-shall-not-be-named. Do you think I am ruining my expierence by playing HOI3 before HOI4 or is it more of a "knowing more" kind of thing.

Seems pretty cool. I am interested in the second world war, so HOI3 might be a good buy. I am not worried about the price tag, but more about it being to complex and just eating up time, because I won't be able to learn it until HOI4 releases. I agree with you though, 5 bucks is a very cheap price.

At that price you have to buy the game...play it, come here, learn the strategies and apply what you know in HOI4...plus you have too much time in between games, id want to play.

HOI III is a brilliant war game so you'll get hooked if you give it a chance; I mean you'll get hooked if you don´t give up after half an hour because you don´t understand something.
Btw HOI IV will have very little in common with HOI III so there is no point in waiting.

Paradox tends to "reinvent the wheel" to some degree between each release of games of a series, so don't expect HOI4 to be just a more polished HOI3. It'll have different game mechanics in several very important respects, so the strategy that works for you in HOI3 may or may not be a recipe for disaster in HOI4. For that matter, you might like one, and not like the other.

From the looks of things HOI3 and HOI4 are going to be entirely different beasts! My opinion: get HOI3, use this forum to help master it and enjoy. No matter the difference in games HOI3 will give you a better perspective of WWII and therefore make mastering HOI4 all the easier.

This.

I'm not keen on HoI4 based on what I've read, but I'll give it a try come 2016 or so...

I have a question about that great bundle. Is this one key for Steam including everything, or every DLC has it's own key? And if it's the former, then can I use that key on Steam account with base HoI 3?

I just bought it; buying it will give you a key. When you redeem the code in steam you then get the code for each individual game.
For examples, lets assume you get the code 1-2-3-4. You redeem this in steam and when you then click on "show product key" you get the different keys for the expansion (semper fi, motherland, darkest hour).
So that will split up into different keys basically.

I would not buy any strategy guide when all you need to know is here on the forums and/or game manual.. but that is my opinion SM has a different one as he gets paid when you buy it. :p
