So I have a few colonies near the Aztecs with like 10,000 troops in the region. The Aztecs gave me military access and I scouted them and realized they only had like 9,000 troops. They are much larger than in 1444 since they annexed the country underneath them. They have like 10 ships but honestly i don't really care since they have no capacity to threathen my homeland. Also their ships seem to be in the Pacific so they would have to Round the Horn to get there. Is this attack probably going to be succesful?

Most tech groups can take them with less than a third of the troops, to pull a figure out of nowhere, and you'll probably have ideas and advisors on top of that. The Colonial Conquest casus belli will let you take them in one go with minimal (no?) OE but in my first game meeting them I waited too long and lost that. And they ate all the other tribes. Fabricated claims suffer normal OE. They westernised eventually but were never the threat that other colonizers were. Take your time, there is no point hurting yourself during time of troubles or another war or something but within a century or so of meeting them, I'd say.

I took the Aztecs as Sweden with 6000 troops only. I inherited all of their lands (all of modern Mexico and central America), so I had some revolts and I managed to bring fleets with more troops from homeland. I cored all of their lands and it was worth it (great income and more place for another 30k troops), but the trick is to convert all of them and then coring, it's taking about 3 months to half year so it's nothing when you have the religious idea group.

NO! Don't attack the Aztecs.

"War .... huh .... what is it good for?? Absolutely nothing!" :p

But seriously, you could help the Aztecs. ;) Do they need help? I don't know. They are probably very content in Mexico.

Yes they need help... Getting that 40;1 conversion rate on gold, you have to kill them to help them.

As other said - if you are a non american nation who colonised near them than you don't have to worry at all, since their soldiers should be FAR inferior to yours. Though I have no expirence with wars if between the natives, so I can't really comment on your chances if you are an (non westernised) american nation as well

Well I'm Castille and my Army tech is kinda lagging behind. Last time I checked it's at 7 or 8. Would that be good enough?

edit: How do i get a cassus belli against these bums?

I conquered the Aztecs, Incas, Iroquois and Huron without a CB and you still get no over expansion from annexing them in one war. In the 16th century and even now, I'm way to occupied to go for Exploration all the way since I have to invest in Trade and Navies Idea also.

Military speaking, if you have the Tercio infantry already, you can even conquer them with 4 regiments or so (still not historical though hehe). They don't even dare to attack besieging armies of 2000 troops, which did surprise me actually.

Btw, attacking the Aztecs and Inca is a must unless you "don't need" around 25 ducats solely from gold income...

If you have a good admin point income, and a lot of missionaries (being papal controller helps), and your country is stable, it should be fairly easy to annex them, then convert all their provinces and core them. The way I do it, I keep two 10-size stacks (basically what you will use to conquer them) around to whack the occasional rebellion, and have my 3 missionaries chain-convert all provinces. As soon as a province is converted, I core it. I do the core conversion after the religious conversion so that I can pace the spending of my admin points. It usually takes 4-5 years to have everything converted and cored, and then you won't have to worry about revolts.

Make sure there are no European colonies next to them when you annex it, as you could get a LOT of AE when you annex them. If there aren't any you'll get 5-10 AE with a couple of European powers, very manageable.

I've done this in three games already without any major issues.

I guess my main pint is can I attack them without some European power attacking me? The only other country is the British in Bermuda.

should be no problem. Depends on who you are I guess. If you are rivals with Spain, Portugal, or GB, they might eventually, but otherwise I doubt it.
