Should Ahistorical nations be added as formable?

Due to what I've been doing in modding, I'm interested in three particular possible tags, one each for a secularized Knights, Teutonic Order (yes, I know about Prussia, but as an alternate option in case Prussia manages to come into being before you can form it, or in case you want to keep the TO ideas), and Livonian Order (and yes, I'm aware of Kurland, but again, as an option for if Kurland already exists for some reason). Different tags because a monarchy or republic with those names would just seem silly. Though I'd settle for the country name being able to change by government.

And my point again; I didn't just beat down england to turn myself into england anyways. If i wanted to do that, i'd just play england from the beginning.

....unless of course english becomes the primary culture. I have not checked that. I just assumed that if your scotland that Scottish would still be your primary culture and enlish would just be accepted. Then you could convert the english lands if you watned to spend diplo points.

And anyways, your beating down the english and subjugating them you don't want to form a union with them. Sounds like you want to stay as scotland.
Forming Great Britain just gives you accepted culture and like 10 years of tax increase. No real benifit in doing it unless its the country you want.

Because your creating a union of both countries where both nations are equally accepted.
And putting the flags the other way around doesn't look as good.

If england had successuflly subjegated scotland in the 1300's I don't think Great Britain would have formed.

You could just grab a flag mod and change that. There's at least one that puts the Scottish one in front.

If it bothers you so much, then as Scotland why don't you culturally convert Northern England to Scottish before forming GB so the Scots form the majority of provinces on the island of Great Britain. Also any colonies you make as a Scottish Great Britain would be Scottish cultured so there's that. Also since Scots was the official language of Scotland (court language?) at some point in this era, can't you roleplay that Scots, rather than English, is now the predominant language of Britain and the language of empire while English is gradually marginalized among the populace until the late game when it becomes a point of contention between English and Scottish linguists as to whether English is an actual language or just a dialect of Scots, the opposite of the real world scenario?

They should just make Scotland on the hoard tech group. This would accurately reflect historical realities and balance them in game terms. The current flag of great Britain should only be used if Scotland forms GB, which is historically accurate and would therefore use the real life flag of course. If England forms GB, it should just use the English flag, and maybe have Scotland thrown in on a corner or something like the stars on USA's. Also, make Kosovo it's own formable nation, and change Spain to Iberia!

Real life nationalism is definitely one of the worst aspects of global historical games, from erepublik to risk clones to this. I like playing Scotland and fighting England; whatever you do, please don't remove my ability to insta-move my cap to London and have my accurate flag. Thanks!

If England had inherited Scotland there's no way it would have been called the United Kingdoms they'd have called it England.

Because Scotland was the junior party and the fact that James I thought he was 'swapping a stony couch for a deep feather bed' he moved his court to London. The flag at first did indeed have the St Andrews cross on top but it was changed a couple years later to favour the cross of St George as it was diplomatically prudent.

Incidentally The United Kingdoms is the correct name not Great Britain.

Personally, I would say because it looks better, Red on a white background looks much better on a flag than White over another pattern.

Country names don't change in Europa Universalis, so Paradox chose names that can represent all different types of government - that's also the reason why it's "Ottomans" and not "Ottoman Empire", why it's "Byzantium" and not "Byzantine Empire". "United Kingdom" would look very silly, if your country is not, in fact, a kingdom.

You can never have enough formable tags.

maybe hide some of them like culture shifting until you can shift, but eu4 was made for alternative history and goals.

And more goals means more to do on the game board.

Actually the Western Roman Empire lineage was passed to HRE and legitimized by the Eastern part of the Empire in a couple of occasions.

I wouldn't use the term "lineage" when you're talking about centuries-long dissolution. However, I agree that the Frankish Empire might very well be referred to as a Western Roman Empire, but then I'd call the Ottoman Empire the inheritor of the Eastern Roman Empire. The analogy isn't even outrageous. In both cases, the conqueror inherits the legacy of their conquest. There are many examples of this. (Like the Washington *******s).

My autistic brain still wishes the Roman Empire would have gotten back together. Maybe we should rename the EU after letting Turkey join. Would be kinda cool.
