In the stream earlier today as Wiz was right-clicking all of the debris he mentioned it would be nice to have a shortcut for that. Well, why not make it so you can right click on the system from the galaxy map and select "Research Debris"?

You can already auto-survey the entire system by right clicking on it, so an option for debris would be pretty perfect. Thoughts?

There was mention of possibly adding a shortcut for it (or something) by wiz today on stream, since it was tedious. But it may not happen by release.

No.
We have discussed automated surveying at length previously, and all right-thinking people agreed that knocking the first X out of a 4X game is a bad idea.

Its one thing to remove explore and another to repeatedly scanning the same debris cause the person was fleeing due to enemy coming or else risk destruction. Atleast what we want is ordering them to auto explore a system, not total auto explore as it wants .

A basic auto salvage button for salvaging fleet wreckage in a system would be a great addition as currently it looks very tedius.

I just don't understand the attitude.
Zoom in on the solar system view. Pivot around. Look at the ship yourself while your scientist is doing likewise. Stellaris actually has nice graphics! Why won't you explore them? Why you not play game?

Science-scanning new stuff is the least tedious part of the game, replete with novelty and alien ship designs! And you want to get it over with as robotically as possible so you can go back to minimaxing your planet economy ledgers. :/

it is just clicks....there is nothing stopping you from clicking on each one if you want to, but some people want to do it quickly...maybe you are in a battle and don't have time to click on 8 or 9 areas in a map.....there are very valid reasons to not want to make a bunch of redundant clicks.

I'm not asking or suggesting that everything become automated at all. All I'm suggesting is that you don't need to right click->click 10 times per system just because you a bunch of different battles in a war. Quit it with your strawman arguments, you're not fooling anybody.

That you're telling me you're minimaxing your clicks instead of your economy sort of makes my aesthetic objection more pertinent, don't you think?

I appreciate that your position sounds like a bad parody, but no, honestly, you really are asking to minimise your involvement with the nice-looking part of the game.
If you're dealing with an invasion, why are you surveying anyway? (A) Your scout ship's probably gonna get nuked, and (B) you shouldn't be so OCD that you must have everything working with maximum efficiently at all times. The game isn't that tight.

Nice looking part of the game?

Recovering debris is literally just right-clicking on bunch of orange exclamation marks.

If you can auto-survey a system (the beautiful bit) then you should be able to auto-recover debris in a system (the tedious ugly bit).

Convoluting debris recovery with galactic exploration is definitely a strawman argument.

Alright, let me explain this.
If I'm in a war, but want to get the salvage before it times out I have to pause the game, then repetitively right click, then left click salvage, then do the same thing 2-9 more times to recover 1-2 fleet battles worth of salvage, if we implement a salvage system button or something, then I can right click the system, click salvage, and then go back to managing the war and other aspects of my empire. It's just automating something mindless and repetitive, not exploration or anomolies etc.

I am not asking for any automation for exploration, surveying not a single thing, only automating salvaging the 5+ piles of salvage that can be located literally 3 inches apart on the screen and requiring an individual click each, which is bothersome. It's not a request to dumb anything down, nor is it a request to remove aspects of exploration, merely to let me make one click instead of 4-12, that's all it's just convenient, and since we already have the survey system button it's likely not that hard to add as a feature.
