Just a suggestion: if a fleet with both transports and capital ships have the "amphibious assault" mission assigned, all not-transport ships would start "shore bombarding" the attacked province.
At the moment you cannot easily obtain the same effect ie: you need to escort transporters and keep capital ships in a different fleet.
