So nice! :)
Will pedestrian roads be able with buildings??

Went into game and checked, as it stands the pedestrian roads have no grid connected to them.

What I did learn, though, was that I can rename everything.

Everything...

How about you give us a little snapshot like that everyday? Huh? Huh?

I do my best, but they are usually split over random threads and sites so might be a bit hard to catch up on all. For example I posted a new screenshot on reddit yesterday ;)

Well that's not a must for release. But it would be nice to have pedestrian roads with a grid connected to them somewhere in the future. Combine this feature with connected buildings, bycicles and underground carparks and this would enable us to properly build nice looking european (or historical) city centers with pedestrian zones. Sell everything as DLC and everyone is happy. ;)

Agreed! Although with our current practice that (pedestrian roads + grid) sounds like something we'd patch in for free and not add as a paid DLC.

actually I don't think you should have zones only off of pedestrian roads. It is only in very old cities that there are pedestrian only roads with business on them that don't also have a drivable connection. Most of the pictures above show pedestrian areas, but they for sure have a road behind those buildings that allows delivery of goods/services/emergency vehicles to get to the business. The customers only approach via the walkway, but roads are still needed to get things delivered to sell.

Really what is needed is that the game should recognize you have a pedestrian area and then orient the fronts of the business to face the ped area with the side that faces the road showing garages or something like this.

There doesn't have to be a seperate road on the backside. Usually there is just another house facing to the next pedestrian street or an inner courtyard sourounded by other houses. Take a look at these pictures

Freiburg-im-Breisgau-Deutschland-Reisen.jpg

Freiburg-im-Breisgau-Luftaufnahme-16072004.jpg

and this map of this city

Stadtplan.jpg

Nearly everything you see here belongs to the pedestrian area with lots of shops. Pedestrian zones work often that way that deliveries are allowed for a short time of the day. In that sense all these pedestrian only roads are "drivable", but it's very restricted who is allowed to drive there and when it's allowed.

Makes sense in the example you are showing. I just want to make sure we don't end up with a narrow walkway supporting huge buildings. there are lots of near by streets in the picture you showed and the walking area is really a road that has been turned into ped only so that works fine as the business have close by road access.

I just don't want a walking only portion of cities that is unrealistic, but maybe with the districting approach you should be able to set an area as ped only /except commercial deliveries) in this way you can turn part of your city into a great walking space with shops and not some heavy industry area without roads.

I really like that idea, we can have our pedestrian only areas without the need for a new type of roads or a change in the mechanics used. Maybe when you make that district pedestrian and deliveries only, the texture of the roads could automatically change to something with a brick or tile texture that looks more pedestrian friendly.
