Hi guys

I´m having the issue that when ordering ships to "repair", they go to the spaceport in my capital planet instead of going to the nearest spaceport, even if I put them next to a colonized planet spaceport they go all the way to my home planet.

Is this how it is meant to be???

Its weird because I can upgrade ships in other spaceports but i can´t repair them

Appreciate the communities reply on this.

Thanks

When you order your fleet to repair, they will go to the nearest spaceport that is designated as a rallying point. Your capital starts with one by default, but you can designate others too. Once you do, your fleets will move to the nearest rally point to repair.

I'm seeing the same problem. Ships go back to capital port instead of nearest port.

Yeah, they're going to the nearest rally point. If you want them to repair at a particular station, you can order them into orbit at that planet and they will repair there. But the "repair" command sends them to the rally point.

When you order your fleet to repair, they will go to the nearest spaceport that is designated as a rallying point. Your capital starts with one by default, but you can designate others too. Once you do, your fleets will move to the nearest rally point to repair.

Beyond removing the rally point, you can also specifically direct the fleet to move to the space port of your choice, and it will begin repairs automatically once it has arrived. This really isn't much of a problem, although it is unintuitive because there's no indication that the rally points are why the fleets don't go where you'd want them to when you give them a repair order.

I see a similar problem with upgrading. Order your constructors or survey ships to do a upgrade They dont choose nearest port but travel long distances for their upgrades. I dont mind that much they can just do survey in that region instead.

the rally point is set to your capital by default in every new game, a second one to your fleet, you have to disable or define whatever you want, there is the small flag icon on top of a planetview or fleet window, otherwise your fleet will go for repair or returning home to designated rallypoint, if no rallypoint is set for this command, fleet moves to nearest spaceport/planet.. this could even be one from a vassal, or lead your fleet to an dimensional horror waiting in a known system ;) so be carefull

By the way, is this the same reason that science ships set to evasive try to return to your capital instead of just to whatever system it was leaving when it entered a system full of hostiles? I generally set my science ships to passive so that they don't get sent home, but since setting a ship to passive means the game doesn't even give you a notification when said ship enters a system with hostiles, there's a downside to that option too. The other day, I lost a 5-star scientist I really couldn't afford to replace at time because of that.

I did and was able to determine that rally points don't update instantly. If you give it a "game month", the rally points become active. Also, people should realize that fleets can also be rally points.
