This is pretty minor, but in the past few streams (Last Week I think) they tried to construct a Frontier Outpost in one of the Outer Rim Systems but only to realise that their warp drives weren't upgraded to the latest design.

This doesn't seem necessary early on, but when your empire grows and you have numerous science and construction ships, naval fleets and the like flying about deep into the mid-game, it can really be annoying to start wondering why they can't go from System A to System B only to realise that they're warp drive wasn't upgraded.

This also applies to naval fleets as well. Say you just finished a research of obtaining stronger armor while at a war between another race and you just started with a few skirmishes. You could update the latest designs on ship designer, but when your non-upgraded 5K fleet are idle (e.g. protecting borders rather than attacking) and you are busy somewhere else, it would be easy to neglect upgrading them.
