Hi

I'm feeling my way into the game and picking up more each time I play. There's a hell of a lot going on and fiddling about with ship design is just one extra thing to get distracted by. Are the auto settings OK for me to use while I work my way into the game?

Cheers

What I've heard seems to be no. I haven't used it much so can't say. I doubt it's too bad though and I'm not sure upgrades matter too much anyway. It's more throwing force or exploiting the ai. As you grow it's little use upgrading old ships just use those resources to add more. It seems the game company has more experience with number stack and dice roll battles which explains combat a bit.

Most random empires are probably balanced with some shield and armor so you'll want some lasers for armor and kinetic guns for shields and you'll likely want balanced armor and shields yourself. Don't worry too much and crank out fodder.
