Ok I did look at the build times at start of game for Germany. I compared three games Hoi2TRP/ Arma1.3 /AoD i also looked across the board

TRP ARM1.3 AoD 84 retooling not counted
BB 1530 730 490
BC 1325 615 422
CV 1325 547 525
CA 1145 310 307
CL 925 220 202
DD 565 120 120
SS 457 160 154
Trans 120 90 86

Inf 95 95 84
Armor 150 144
Cav 135 95 84
mtn 120 60 58
Gar 60 60 58
HQ 270 250 240

Int 140 150 139
ftr 150
Tac 152 171 164

Now when comparing Vanilla Armageddon to Aod except when building Battleships and battlecruisers when you count the retooling time for your build times are actually longer for the first ship in the series. But when you look at one of the main line Mods like The Realism project , which i play, your moving at lightning speed in comparison. So overall is it too quick if your comming from normal Armageddon you wont notice it excepot for getting your bismark out but if you came from a main line mod its a big issue for you.

Now i personally dont like the really short buildtimes so ive modded my Aod files for the longer more realistic buildtimes im used to its a simple mod took me all of 10 min but for thoose considering the same thing IT WILL make it harder for Germany to compete at sea.

Yes the build times are a litlte short but it is well known that especially in America they could build ships in almost unheard of times. For example the Essex class carriers. Essex her self was layed down in April of 41 launched in may of 42, and commisioned in decembar of 42. She was commisioned 15 months ahead of schedual. The fletcher class destroyers 175 were build in 32 months. And lets not forget the Liberty ship that by the end of the war it was only taking 44 days to build one. So it could be done but as some one else pointed out the AoD can simulate that by throwing the extra IC to speed build something which realistcally only the industrial superpowers like US and Soviets could do on a large scale.

Keep in mind though that build times for mid-game US ships (basically most of those commissioned after the start of the war) would, in game terms, reflect the bonuses from assembly line techs and the dove-hawk slider. If you look at build times (laid-down date to commission date) for pre-Essex carriers they were well over 1000 days.

So what are the realistic build times mentioned previously? Anyone?
It's difficult to be exact, because most ships were put on a rush program or paused/stalled at some time for some reason (shipyard bombed, sudden higher priorities, etc., etc.), but roughly speaking:

BB, CV - 4 years
BC - 3.5 years
CA, CL - 2.5 to 3 years
DD - 12-18 months
SS - 12 months

All periods excluding the "retooling" time between the order being placed and the first vessels being laid down; i.e. the times are from the keel being laid down to the date commissioned into service.
