Could we have the Fatimids at least start the game as Heretics, to encourage other Moslem dynasties to destroy them?

As much as i would like it, and I proposed this idea some time ago in 1.03b, I was told it wouldn't happen in offical game, but should conceivably work if someone wanted to mod it.

Personally i'd prefer if Johan isn't going to rectify the lack of Jewish courtiers spawning to use Jewish religion as Shiite.

Even with the Crusades though, the Fatimids biggest problem was the fact that they were Shi'ites. Even with Christians rampaging through Jerusalem none of the surrounding Sunni could bear to raise a finger to aid them, and in fact attacked them as well, the Abbasids in particular finishing them off.

In fact, the Fatimids trusted the Copts in Egypt a lot more than the Arabs, who were mostly Sunni and hated their guts. Thus the OTHER point, that Egypt should be mostly Christian. The Fatimids showed no great desire to islamize Egypt, and only the Abbasids really bothered to institute more than a token campaign. Conversely, the Sunni were more worried about the Shi'i than the Christians, and only really started pushing them out of the Holy Land after the Fatimids had been dealt with.

I don't typically agree with Jinnai and MKJ in the same breath, but I have to say that implementation of the Shi'ites in some form makes a good deal of sense - and I also agree that something productive should be done with the Jewish tag.

If only there could be an expansion pack with shiites, playable non-Christian dynasties, cognatic inheritance laws, et.c... I'd consider buying it, that's for sure...

Well, yeah...though I did say "$$$$$$$$$$" (where each $ is about a thousand Euros)...
Let's see what would be required:
  • revise the province.csv (some research required)
  • revise 1066_scenario_characters.inc file to reflect changes
  • revise 1066_scenario_countries.inc file to reflect changes
  • revise 1066_scenario_provinces.inc file to reflect changes
  • review (and probably revise) the 1066_scenario_relations.inc file to make sure it doesn't bugger anything up
  • revise 1187_scenario_characters.inc file to reflect changes
  • revise 1187_scenario_countries.inc file to reflect changes
  • revise 1187_scenario_provinces.inc file to reflect changes
  • review (and probably revise) the 1187_scenario_relations.inc file to make sure it doesn't bugger anything up
  • revise 1337_scenario_characters.inc file to reflect changes

  • revise war AI code
  • write new component to war AI code to deal with shiite-sunni conflicts
  • revise peace AI code
  • write new component to peace AI code to deal with shiite-sunni conflicts
  • revise war (ownership/occupation) code
I've undoubtedly forgotten something too...so about ten grand would cover the time required to do this and provide some meaningful compensation to PI for their investment to this development as opposed to the other stuff that they're currently working on instead.
