I should have known that I'd post about being sick and only get vomit jokes!
Anyway, another update. No pictures, because nothing happened!
Thamasp I-Still Not Dead
After useless negotiations with the foolish states of Ghara and Mahra, who refused to make peace even though neither side had a navy with which to fight the other, a tax collector in Baghdad took justice into his own hands. He falsely convicted three Arabs of fraternising with his daughter, and had them executed. Thamasp refused to try Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the official in question, due to family ties, and yet another revolt began in Baghdad. It was, of course, crushed quickly.
The Ottoman Empire began many great constuction projects in March of 1538, under the watchful guidance of Mimar Sinan. In the same month, Thamasp attempted to march his troops through Portuguese holdings in Arabia, but the Christian pigs refused! Thamasp would have invaded, but he didn't have the navy to transport so many concubines back to Persia. In October, Thamasp sent solid gold hat to the Emir of Mus'asha', as a gift for so many years of loyal tribute.
In early 1539, Suleyman Pasha of the Ottoman Empire marched into Aden and made it yet another Turkish tributary state. Inter-Muslim conquest was not something condoned by the Shah. Shi'a was a peaceful religion, after all.Unfortunately, peaceful religions do not help much in the long run, as the Emir of Musa'sha refused to become a Governor in the Safavid Empire. Thamasp promptly concubized the Emir's daughter.
In April, a status quo peace was signed between Ghara and Persia, finally ending the useless war. On the 13th, a Sunni revolt broke ouut in Qandahar as the it was discovered that the KKK (Kshi'a Konverters Klub) activity in the province was government funded.
The New Year of 1540 was a good time for Muslims, as Bahrain began a glorious Revolution to overthrow it's Portuguese oppressors. More Ottoman stupidity folowed, as in June the Turks declared Jihad against England. July saw yet another Austro-Ottoman war, though this time it was started by Portugal declaring war on Hungary.
Thamasp spent 1540 and 1541 doing what he did best: nothing. A brief revolt in revolt in Iveria (more Klub misadventures) was all that happened. Yet more nothing followed, broken only by a gift of gold to the Emir of Musa'sha', as compensation for his daughter. By late 1543, the Safavid Empire was in full stagnation, with nothing to do but wait for Thamasp to die. The mid-1500's would be remembered by historians as the Age of Meh.
