Radar plays a much more important role in naval combat, with each level of radar adding +3 to attack, meaning
an improved centimetric equipped
ship can pound the crap out of a
non-centimetric equipped ship.

I halved the IC costs for building
everything except for naval units,
which I played around with some,
increasing their costs.

Each level of Halftracks will increase
the speed of your mechanized divisions by +1.

Ships had their speeds cut
down to 14~ knots. Only the nuke
ships can do 30~ knots due to not
having to refuel.

You can now equip your Type IIB
coastal boats with snorkels (raises
top speed by 1 knot and lowers
visibility)

Sloped Armor Applications is a +5 to
represent the vast advantage the
T-34 had over the Panzer III and IV.

I'll soon replace the 70mm+ gun
with 70mm+ (Short) and
70mm+ (Long) with differing soft/hard
attack values....etc

lots more changes too.

(If you want to use my work in your stuff, just credit me with it, OK?)

Wonderful pictures! I love the one of the B-36.

I hope Paradox adopts your mods.

Otherwise very nice, but I think the bonuses you give (eg. fighter attack) are way too big.

EDIT: Heh, sorry, I take it back. Didn't notice the 30mm cannon was a lvl 7 tech... :p But still, the +5 for sloped armor seems quite big.

Good work. Interesting stuff...

BTW, Yogi just put out a new (much improved, IMHO) version of the neworder events. You should probably toss that version in... :)

Sloped armor was a tremendous
advantage. It effectively DOUBLED
the thickness of the armor on a
tank. I could lower it down
to +3, but I want a nation that's
applied sloped armor to be able
to kick the ass of a nation that
hasn't.....

As for the 30mm cannon, the MK108
was insanely powerful, capable of
sawing a B-17 in half with
just THREE shots.

Well, German PzKpfw IV and Tiger didn't use sloped armor, and the latter was probably the best (heavy) tank of the war...

It's true that Mk108 packed quite a punch, but it had some defects: slow rate of fire and short range combined with small magazine made it almost useless in dogfights - unless you happened to be a very good shooter and/or you managed to get into an excellent shooting position.

I like some of your changes, but not all of them. Is there a way to incorporate some and leave others out or modify them? For instance:
1. What is the benefit of Naval Research Level 1 Application: Diesel Power Plants?
2. Sloped Armor – No problem, but lower the modifier to +2/+3
3. Naval Radar – Concur
4. Unit IC cost – Not crazy about. Does this throw the game off balance?
5. Ship speed of 14 knots – Concur, since ships generally traveled at a cruising speed. However, ships with high speeds should receive some type of bonus to defense when in combat. Speed bonus could also apply to A/C, but with bonuses to attack and defense.
6. Everything else – Concur

Good work overall!!!

Allows more range and speed for ships:

Example:

DEUTSCHLAND CLASS RANGE (diesel equipped)
21,000 nm at 10 knots

HMS KING GEORGE V (Steam)
15,000 nm at 10 knots

USS IOWA (Steam)
14,000 nm at 10 knots

Done.

Not really. You can now actually research and build units now.
Russia ends up with about 300~ divisions usually, which is historical.

I agree with cruising speeds for ships, but ships accelerated to max speed in combat to gain the edge in combat. This was for many reasons: closing the range with the enemy, delivering a torpedo attack, etc. Also, a fast moving ship was harder to hit by enemy fire. Can you incorporate speed bonuses to the ship’s defense in the mod? A suggestion:

25+ Knts = +1 Defense
30+ Knts = +2 Defense

Not sure if can do this, but it would it would give some credence to the ship’s max speed in the game.

Early war Heavies in the works

NewTanks1.jpg

Tanks2.jpg

I took the basic heavy tanks, moved them up in the tech tree so
you can develop them at the same time as basic medium tanks,
and slashed their speeds down to about 6km, and gave
them much weaker guns to represent the early war tanks,
such as the Char series, more accurately. I also split the 70mm+gun into two models, the short and medium models.

The Basic 75mm Short will probably get the most use (e.g. early PzKw IV). Might want to change description of Improved Medium 70+mm which claims to represent all PzKwIV.
