How can you disagree with a fear ANOTHER person has?! I don't quite get that.

It's a way to state that you don't share the same fear. Well, I would disagree with that intend on mind, at least. Can't talk for everyone.

My biggest fear is that HOI IV will miss some serious depth in gameplay, mechanics and managing. I really hope the game isn't too easy for veteran players :/

I want a complex game which challenges the player for a long time with a loooong curve to master the game.

I only do SP so I want the AI to be competent. If the AI is too scripted you can figure out and predict its next moves. Doesn't totally remove the fun, since it is a challenge to analyze and figure out the script but it's not as interesting afterwards.

For example, once I realized that the US AI was fixated on taking Wake Island (12 assaults over 3 years), I turned it into a graveyard for the USN. It was like a 3 year long Battle of Guadalcanal.

Not saying that I didn't enjoy it, but it was kind of like smacking down my little brother over and over again in a basketball game.

Worst fear is obviously a broken friendly a.i., meaning that the battle plans won't be executed properly and lead to a back and forth frontier shift as in HoI3.

Simplification... Too cartoonish.
And I don't like tech teams, hoi 3 research system was more logical for me.
And air regions are too big for my taste, I hope in future expansions they will be flexible like he regions where players can define them themselves.

My biggest fear is that I will find the combat interface and troop movement too messy, especially when you have a lot of units. Another fear is that the combat planning AI will be utter garbage. I'm also concerned that the region system will oversimplify the game, especially for air units.

First and foremost my biggest concern is of course the AI. How smart will it be ? How willing to co-operate(unholy alliances) ? How reasonable will it be ? I think the AI is always the biggest challenge when making a game "realistic".

Other minor stuff is:
Will the game be too short(time wise) ?
Will it feel "big" enough, as in, will it really be world scale conflicts, or just dull minor conflicts?
Will each game feel dynamic and random enough, how well will the re-playability be ?
And the last but not least, will world conquest with albania be a reasonable goal?

Edit: My reply is based off from my experience from mainly EU and CK titles, so I'm biased and might not have brought relevant points.

My biggest fear is that
It took so long for them to release HOI IV that HOI V and VI would already been released

Never thought about that but... quite possible, I guess.

So, let me extend the OP proposition: Please share your worst fears regarding HOI V, HOI VI and, lastly, HOI IV!!!

On a more serious comment, on my part, hope some Dev looks at this thread. It is a sort of compendium of a lot of HOI 3 threads adressing different issues.

My biggest fear is that the game text will remain impossible to read on a 2560x1600 display unless you have two Hubble telescopes glued to your iris's. Or that the game will look poor at non-native resolutions just like CK2 and EU IV.

I used to have decent respect for members of this forum until the presidential quote earlier in the thread. Because healthcare, housing, fair labor practices, environmental protection and other basic necessities for the middle class and poor are not supposed to be available to us. If Americans weren't such dumbasses here we'd copy the Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish model of caring and providing a social safety net for your citizens.

My biggest fear is that HOI IV will miss some serious depth in gameplay, mechanics and managing. I really hope the game isn't too easy for veteran players :/

I want a complex game which challenges the player for a long time with a loooong curve to master the game.

absolutely this...

I do really fear the combat is getting to "simple" i really like the possibilitys HoI3 gave you and i don t want to give anything of this to the AI at all...
I am still not sure if i will use the battleplaning system at all because it looks just boring to me to "klick a move command and watch the AI going to stomp france for me". I want to be in controle of everything micromanaging each division =/

The same with the Air-Units. to give the the order "do something in this area" is a bit to simple for me. I dont want my CAS to fly in "this region", having fun bombing everything it meets. I want to send them to stomp "specifically THIS Tank Division right "there" or let my Fighters cover exactly "those" 3 Provinces and so on.

Maybe its because of the speed and because i am not used to the mechanics it will now have, but watching Germany taking France looked kind of like "giving 3 Armies and some planes a movement order into paris and watch them do everything alone"

I don t want to bring a bad mood in here, i am really looking forward to this game, but HoI3 had the perfect mix of complexity and abstract look at it for me.
And i am afraid it gets to "casual" now.

you could say my biggest fear is to lose the control over my nation.
I am not playing a game to watch the AI doing everything =/

My biggest fear is, that the engine includes modifiers for AI that are unable to overcome. For example, if i want to gain the upper hand as GER over the RAF, and I fully commit to this target, I should succeed. Rushing techs, build more planes than them, build radar, whatever. It should have an effect. The mechanic should work.

I remember playing as GER with ahistoric tech levels (like rushing into Barbarossa with only Tiger HARM) and the enemy is automatically countering them without the need of a specific investment. And consequently no missing investment on other stuff. I don't remember if it was in BICE or in TFH, but I was never able to overcome the "+X% piercing attack"-bonus of the SOV. Not on "legal" ways.

I remember that my INT never got radar bonus over British territory near the channel, like Dover, but of course the RAF-INT got it above Cologne...

Which is sad. Gaming a brickwall is killing me...
