In HOI3, factions fought to the bitter end. I hope that doesn't repeat itself. There are plenty of times peace between factions should be a possibility before total occupation by the enemy.
I'd say thats my biggest 'fear'
I don't mind total or near total occupation for most of the majors as long as you've captured all the main objectives but it should also depend on national unity. German didn't quit, England, Russia, or United States wouldn't quit either. Japan had to have 2 nukes and was looking at the invasion of all the allies including Russia before it quit. Italy, France, etc with poor national unity or a fractured government should fold or negotiate for peace.
My biggest fear for HOI 4 is I won't be able to create a military the size of the historical ones. I'd like to see diverse air forces with naval bombers, ground attack, long range fighters or interceptors. I want to see huge navies in the Pacific or long hard fought battles on fortified islands. But most importantly I want them to work correctly because the AI hasn't done the greatest job putting together fleets or building air forces for their national goals.
