((TH, de Vallanare was a Foreign Minister and was never a general. I think you confuse Romano and Roseno when describing Romano's long career. Also the executions also take place in 67 but the update is dated 61-65.))

Hola Hola!

This is a surprise, I wake up to find myself the General of the Sublime Democratic Republican Army of Beauties Argentina (or something). I will hold my generalship with provide senor Presidente!

I support de Santa's bid to run again, he is the best man for the job to rule us in Glorious Sublime Chilean Democracy.

I also do Propose Universal Suffrage. Our people fought the Evil Empire with their life and blood, they deserve to receive true Chilean Democracy. I hope it will be put to vote come the Presidency election, let us test the true Republicanism of our new administration, let us give the Chileans the freedom they deserve.

!Chile para los chilenos!

I support this move to universal suffrage, it's long overdue. I shall remain an independent politician but associate myself with the Republicanos.

- José Olózaga, Minister for Foreign Affairs

((Oi! Dang yanks talking whilst us Europeans sleep.
Anyways, I find the fact that Gogołów is the ambassador to Prussia to be highly ironic and amusing. He is, after all, of Polish descent. :D))

I announce my candidacy for the Republicanos. If I am elected, I will work to expand the economy of Chile. For too long have we been focused on war and conquests. A total halt shall be put to the expansion of the army. We have no need for a larger army ((anti-military)). The navy on the other hand shall be expanded. Right now, we are the laughing stock of the world in terms of naval capacity. Still, the naval expansion will not be a top priority under my presidency. The economy takes precedence. I propose a slight amount of governmental interventionism in the economy in order to encourage economic growth.

On the subject of citizenship and immigration: I suggest giving Full Citizenship to all the peoples of Chile. We shall not keep the Chilean Bolivian from voting, nor should we prevent the native quechua from doing the same. Religious discrimination should not be something present in Chile. Pluralism is the word of the day for me. Everyone should be able to be able to freely express their own culture and religion.

As for a political reform, I suggest introducing non-secret ballots. With this introduced, the ruling party will no longer be able to use gerrymandering in order to gain an inordinate amount of support.

- Sérgio Gogołów

((Yeah I know, no real point in giving exact policies right now but...whatever.

EDIT: also, why are they named "Tradicionales"? The Traditionalists supported the empire...while the nationalists did not.))

It is with pride that I, Senator Carlos Andonie announce my candidancy for the Republicanos.

I bring a wealth of experience after being the last leader of the former Liberales party and after serving as President De Rosa's Minister of the Interior in the transitional governement. My views are well known, I believe that a strong Chile is an economically strong Chile. As a son of a famous soldier I respect and admire our brave soldiers but to compete in the modern world it is through the brave efforts of our workforce that Chile will grow.

Free trade is the key pillar for myself and the way to economic freedom and indepemdence for Chile. I am completly against any form of protection and decry inept intervention in the economy by politicians who think they know better than the captains of industry who are already moving Chile forward. I therefore support a laissez faire approach to the economy.

I believe that there must be liberty for all and would campaign on this issue and say that we need to extend the vote as far as possible. We should also try and promote immigration as this can only make our country stronger and bring new ideas to our shores.

Just as there should be no government intervention in the economy so we should keep religion out of our business. I am proudly Catholic and support my religion but the state has no place promoting or restriciting any religion. Pluralism is the way forward.

I would also suggest as a Political reform Full Citizenship.

Senator Carlos Andonie

((it seems everyone in the party is running. This could be interesting.))

I urge the former conservadores to join our Republicano Party. I can not stress this more importantly: to stop the red menace from bringing social disorder and destroying our free society we fought hard to consolidate. Since our policies are similar, we can work out a mix of them for the party's official policies, and we can take turns for the candidacy (example: the 1871 candidate will be conservador, the 1876 candidate will be liberal, etc)

((rudders and Dyranum, I think we can only have 3 candidates for each party, so you guys will probably not be running, since we already have 3.
And Dyranum, we already have non-secret ballots in place, so there would be no point in trying to get non-secret ballots passed.
And can someone explain to me what happened to Carrow, the pic isn't showing up on my computer...))

(( not sure if that is entirely fair. Am in Ireland so canty be up at 3 Am to make sure i am the first nominated...))

No, we do not have non-secret ballots. We have gerrymandering. It was stated a few pages ago.
Also, I live in Europe so...I live by an entirely different time-schedule than Yankees and Dixies. One can't be up at 5 in the morning just to get first dibs, that's just insane.

((TH, de Vallanare was a Foreign Minister and was never a general. I think you confuse Romano and Roseno when describing Romano's long career. Also the executions also take place in 67 but the update is dated 61-65.))

Argh. Fixed.

Carlos Juan Carnal

Alignment: Radical Socialist.

Bio: A native of Patagonian and Spanish blood, Carlos became a citizen of Chile upon the Empires conquest of Argentine Patagonia. During the rampage of the Imperial armies, Carlos and his mother fled across Patagonia, to Chile proper, where they were subject to poverty and forced to live within shanty towns for a year. When the Empire began to crumble, Carlos was one of the individuals called to conscription by the Grand Imperial Army. Declining the draft, Carlos went into hiding in a old, local woman's attic, for nearly a year. Upon the end of the war, Carlos became an avid dissident for the working class, and began demanding immediate reform to better address the problems they faced. He was elected as a Senator of the Santiago province at the young age of 21, due in part to Santiago's huge working class.

He supports All Trade Unions for reform.

He as well is running for the Socialista Party's nomination.
