I congratulate Sen. Romano on his apparent victory. I hope he will consider my Democracy Act as a way to implement his policies on religion and immigration. I am open to any changes he wishes to make to the proposal and will proudly sponsor the bill in the Congresso.

It seems indeed like we soon can congratulate President Romano for his victory. I hope he get 5 good years, and that he rethink his immigration policy. Chile must be open for immigrants. Oh, and if señor Presidente ever need any legal help, he know where to turn.

I would like to congratulate President Romano on his inevitable victory. He is clearly the most experienced, level-headed, and competent not only politician of our times. Perhaps more importantly is a moderate and well versed in the ways of compromise and diplomacy. I hope his cabinet is made up not only of conservatives, but of Nationalists, Liberals, and independents. His presidency will no doubt lead us down a path of success, and moderation.

I'm happy not having to jump into the shark tank of ministerial positions; again, I wish only to remain in command of the Army af the North, and I also request Carrow remain under my command as head of the Rear Guard. He's served well and should keep his position.
While it's not over until its over, I have to confess that it's very likely Romano will win his election in just a few hours. I won't be able to issue an update until ~6:00 PM PST - Pallen, you can expedite this process by writing up your new cabinet, generals, and admirals and any bills you'd like to put before the Congreso. Keep in mind that you may not be able to recall some generals immediately as they are currently fighting in Argentina.
Assuming you win, I'll be able to issue a new update as soon as I can play through the next five years.

I wish to officially join the Nacionales Party, although I pride myself on my moderatism and my ability to comprehend and sympthize with most sides it is clear my personal beliefs mostly coincide with the Nationalist doctrine.
People! do not vote for this Democracy act, it will only hinder our progress. Immigrants are very literate! They are manpower, factory workers and investors for our nation! Don't misunderstand me, every party has the right to represent their ideals, but on the policy of Full Citizenship we have all our same views: Chile is full of inmigrants, and lowering our policy towards these people will create problems. We have already given them lots of rights and these rights are protected by the constitution. This act seeks to change the constitution to remove the ammendment about immigrants' rights, and allow any party to worsen their situation. Approving this act would mean that a radical xenophobic party could indeed attack our immigrants by removing their rights. Let's not go backwards into intolerance, but foward into multiculturalism and interaction between us and more advanced societies!

Though I undestand your concern and agree with you to an extent I must protest. The current administration agrees that all citizens may come to this land of opportunity and progress, as do the conservatives only they wish residency in this land to be earned not given. I disagree but what of it, I believe full citizenship is best for right now in the future overpopulation and lack of resources may cause us to change our policy's. The Democracy act will allow future administrations to adjust all policies to fit the current situation and time frame. We know not what the future will hold, so why try to bind our future leaders to an Ideal that is moral and intelligent today but may be obsolete and dangerous tomorrow.
Which is why I vote yes for the demopcracy act.

Congragulations Senor Presidente! I am very glad to see your victory, though I was assured of it for a time beforehand. I would like to recommend my talents as a capable and experienced administrator, and a man who has friends on both sides of the political divide in the senate. Any Ministry you have to offer me would be invaluable.

The 1846 Presidential Election
If the 1836 and 1841 Presidential elections had been tense nail-biters, then the 1846 Presidential Election was a calming stroll by comparison. Cynics said that the results had been decided in the streets of Santiago long before the electors ever cast their ballots. In the wake of the January Coup, the Conservadores had decided to finally break their 10-year alliance with the Liberales in favor of the Nacionales. The result was a landslide victory for the Conservadores Nacionales - the National Conservatives - with Romano at the head of their ticket.
Though General Roseno, originally set to be the nominee for the Nacionales, grumbled and Senator Rivera refused to vote for the union candidate, Antonio de Santa Rosa was not able to muster enough support to challenge the union. De Santa Rosa gracefully conceded in a brief message before the final count was held, only asking that he be allowed to finish the fight in Argentina. Even as his message arrived on Romano's desk, hundreds of new hopefuls flooded the President's schedule, hoping to ask for an appointment in government.
The counting of the electoral votes seemed merely like a formality to some, but the count reflected the completeness of Romano's victory: Romano had fetched 109 electoral votes to de Santa Rosa's 47, with the remaining 8 being abstaining Nacionales' electors. Romano's election was greeted with cheers from his supporters who saw him both as a strong proponent of the democracy and a man capable of bringing victory and prosperity to Chile.
Meanwhile, hundreds of miles from Santiago, Roseno, Carrera, Carrow, and de Santa Rosa continued their march into Argentina, each man left to wonder what his fate would be, recalled or reinstated, by the democracy that all four had sworn to defend. As the final reports on the current standing of Chile's armed forces reached Romano's desk, his for five more years, the President considered the very same question.

Congratulations Señor Presidente, I would encourage you to like Badajoz before you make your cabinet not only out of those who supported you in the election, Chile is a nation of many different views and so those who govern her should represent those different views.
Congratulations Presidente Romano!! This is a great day for the people of Chile, who have finally thrown off the shackles of the Liberales. I would advise that you, unlike Badajoz, form your Cabinet based on merit, not on the support from each man.

I revise the Democracy Act to the following
1. To ensure the people's choice of policies are enacted, no law shall bind future administrations to a certain policy other than in foreign relations and treaties. The Freedom Act shall be amended to no longer bind future governments to a full citizenship and pluralism policy.
