Should I bother, or not?

3 diplomats, 1 trying to get my family on the Polish throne, 2 to spare. The year is 1461. Already -25 permanent relation for "going against us in the diet". Alliance is +50, royal marriage is +25, improved opinion is +100, gift is +25. Italy is often republics, and Milan already is one.

+100 Improved relations
+50 alliance cara
+ 25 / royal marriage, for everyone but the republics / 175 - 25 rivalry / 150 + 25 gift + possibly BIG.

+ Bestow Imperial Grace.

150 relations is required.

I'm too weak to be the great power.

These are the combinations that I would need to achieve in 30 years.

I'd rather focus on someone big, 1 province minors don't really interest me. Milan, Savoy, Florence, Genoa, Ferrara.

Focusing on Italy would mean, ignoring the HRE itself. I know I couldn't get all, but maybe at least couple.

I have never done it before, never.

Declare war on allies of Italians, and peace them out separately for war reps.

Demand return of imperial provinces and use the CB when they refuse; this one should bring at least two into the fight (since they ally each other), and may lead to the release of more Italian minors.

Go over diplomatic relations limit, and just ally everyone you haven't already reined in during the final year before it fires. Cancel after it does.

You're Brandenburg, and you're most likely looking to go Protestant and then become Prussia, so use your time as Emperor to rot the HRE from within. Thus, let Italy go. :)

Rein in by beating them in war rather than improving relations, far easier, its hre so as long as positive relations you can join wars using enforce peace rather than needing 100 relations, possibly vassalise Italians to get CB

Done.

Improved all that time, alliance, royal marriage, send gift, bestow imperial grace, not even one war fought.

Now to brake all the alliances, my king is soon to be dead [I hope] so all the royal marriages will be over too.

Bestow imperial grace means you've spent years of IA tho. Also why didn't you vassalise teutons or livonians?

+0.21 at the moment, my calculations say I spent 47 years of IA, but gained 25, which puts me in a deficit of 22 years, I never care for it to be honest.

I have never, even once [I think] vassalised Teutons, I usually vassalize others, for AE reduction, and if I don't really care for the provinces. Feel free to share how you play Brandenburg. Livonians are still there, I had to protect them from Denmark aggression with free condotierri, but with never ending manpower from HRE, they signed white peace, they didn't join 2nd Teuton war, and soon I can get them, or vassalize, but it's exactly the same thing as with Teutons, never did that before, I like the land more than vassals, especially in that area.

Livonians cane be take out fully in just one war at this moment.

Take koninsberg and danzig, but the rest should be March teutons with how great their ideas is. Goldingen and mitau are needed for livonia to become kurland, as you're going protestant you might as well make them, and hope they do end up colonising as their ideas are meant to

Very interesting, I could go protestant, I did recently and was very much disappointed with how my Prussia did, mainly the -50% goverment capacity bothers me. I had to build courts to stay within the given limit at the time, of early 15XX. I spent around 50 years doing exactly nothing, would need to wait for admin 17, to get 250 extra. I like the Brandenburg so much more, all my Prussia games were a failure.

New even happened, I'm quit happy with how things turn out so far, just need that Burgundy inheritance now.

Didn't know that was an imperial incident, guess cuz my only other Austria game was release 1.30 the Pope joined of his own volition.
Prussia does have the 50% gov capacity malus, worse due to no automatic king rank anymore, but you can still get +50 (+100 normally) gov capacity from each estate. You could build mass courts as Brandenburg due to their decreased building cost idea.

I have no idea, I removed the saves though, as this is a bad event, the one that I dislike the most, and never go for it.

Here is a list:

In my game Charles is still alive, Mary is heir, but as Charles dies "Burgundy Inherited!" fires. 3 options appear, and then just like that PU happens and Marie disappears, that's one option. 2nd is concession to France, 3rd dismantle Burgundy into smaller princes and add them into HRE. The funny thing is, I tried all, all of them sucks, but the worst of all is that when I try to keep my PU with Burgundy, France instantly breaks from my PU, and starts a war of it's own to get PU over Burgundy. Madness. One PU partner breaks off, to PU another PU junior from it's master.

France must had heirless de Valoise on the throne, he was around 18, but that still doesn't really say how I got both PU's at the same time, they France/Burgundy weren't even married, or had alliance, or anything in common.

"The Burgundian Succession" event is much better, but the best one is "The Dutchess of Burgundy Dies" = inherit Burgundy. That's what I want now in this play through.

Burgundy has a mission in it's tree, that it can launch past 1500. I hope it's what I'm looking for.

If burgundy PUs France or emperor or strongest marriage, france or the emperor can contest it. The emperor can contest even if he gets it, either balkanising the HRE half of Burgundy or keeping it, this occurs via imperial incident.
The duchess of Burgundy dies happens when burgundy is PUed via burgundian succession and some mtth, to show the integration wasn't really automatic, although sadly no choice to keep burgundy semi autonomous under a governor as happened like with Anne of Savoy, so finite time to use Burgundy's mission tree
