Hey!

I was just curious: how many different shades of colour does the game allow, as far as nation colours are concerned? Sometimes I get unnerved by the seemingly limited and repeated colours, especially when nations of the same colour are so close to each other. So my question is, how advanced is the engine with regards to colour? Can you program/mod the files to give you advanced shades, or is it all just the basic "DarkRed, LightRed, LightGreen", etc?

I love political maps, but different countries can't be the same colour! :) Learned that one early in my childhood studies of such things. Funny how some things stick with you without rhyme or reason.

Actually it's "bordering countries can't be the same colour" - for maximum cheapness you can print political maps in four colors and follow that rule, although five are easier.

As for the colors in game they are limited to about sixteen or so, but you can change the actual tints and nuances freely.

The "problem" is that EU2-borders aren't constant... they tend to change, which will probably result in two bordering nations with the same color... I've had this "problem" in the IES and I would say that nothing can be done to stop it...

As a guess, each colour has RGB values from 0-255, witht he index representing how far out from the centre the colour is? So index 0 is the centre of the province, with 64 being the colour at the province's edge...

Hmm...this calls for tinkering! :D

in fact...

index 0 is the colour that the strip between the country colour and the TI is.
The second exntry is the centre colour of the province.
The third is the edge colour, and there is a gradient between. Also the centre colour in a selected province.
The fourth (index 64) is the edge colour when the province is selected.
