I do hope the poor benighted Tyrells manage to survive

Yeah, the Tyrell had a few bad early years. But hopefully Bryan and his hiers will usher in a golden age for the Reach

Ah. I hadn't seen the lasted update out of Storm's End when I replied to the thread. More war, rebellion and intrigue. It's like a soap opera with all the sex and violence!

I'm glad the king put a stop to his wife/sister's war for the Stormlands. Lets hope Aegon can nip this rebellion in the bud too.

Bryan Tyrell:
Chapter 7: The Stag and the Rose:

32nd through 34th Years Since Aegon's Landing:

P82xHaX.png

The death of Byron caused a great crisis in the Reach. My sisters were unmarried and therefore there was no heir after Bryan except King Maelon. But I had a plan to escape this succession crisis. Firstly I divorced Cyrenna Morrigen, my wife who was growing old and having only given birth to one child was judged to be unable to give House Tyrell a son and heir. Second I arranged for my sister Jeona to marry Balman Boggs, a man from the Crownlands materially, as a fall-back plan should I die without issue.
izi7wTi.png

The divorce was quickly over and done with and Cyrenna returned to the Stormlands. In need of a new wife, I ironically looked to the Stormlands once again. It was judged that Ravella Baratheon would be a suitable wife, for as well as being young and fertile; it would give the Tyrells a strong alliance in the form of House Baratheon. King Maelon was duly informed of the marriage by raven and he accepted the union of the Stag and the Rose.
GTemQzl.png

I quickly set about arranged for a Grand Ceremony in Highgarden and decided to spend a sizeable amount of Dragons on the event. Although the Reach was rich in food and fodder it was not so in coin at present, owing to extensive building projects in both Highgarden and my holdings in the Manderford.

Np8qkOg.png

Soon, many ravens arrived from my vassals, stating their intention to be at the wedding that is all except one. Lord Axell Florent bluntly stated in his letter that he would not attend the feast. It was hardly surprising, the relations between the Tyrells and the Florents had been bitter for many years, owing to their claim that should rule the Reach, because of their superior descent from House Gardener, the previous rulers of the Reach whose line had been wiped out at the Field of Fire nearly thirty-two years ago. However, many of the noble houses from the Reach can trace their descent back to Garth Greenhand, a fact that is often used to boast of a better claim than my house as the rightful rulers of the Reach, since it is well known that the Tyrells are descendants of the Gardeners only through the female line. But what of it? House Florent may have some influence in the Reach, but not enough to cause me harm. Many lords respected my peaceful rule and were unlikely to side with Lord Florent for the sake of a weak claim. I simply cast the letter into the fire in my Solar and returned to planning the wedding.

5rPkdns.png

And soon it was upon me, much food and drink had been laid on from all over the Reach, and all my vassals had arrived from all corners of the land of the Reach. I stood in the Sept and draped the arms of House Tyrell around my new bride, once this was done I turned to those assembled and made a speech.

“Let this marriage usher in a new golden age for both the Reach and House Tyrell. It has been a long hard struggle for my house, with the loss of Lord Owen the main branch died, and the Lordship of the Reach passed to me his cousin. I have lost a son, cruelly murdered by Garrison Myatt while in the bowels of Casterly Rock. But, you, my vassals and I have taken these as best as we could. But, with this union of the Stag and the Rose, I hope that an age of peace and prosperity will fall over the Reach and indeed the Seven Kingdoms”.
All those assembled cheered at my words and so we left the Sept for the Great hall for the Wedding feast.
9EhSPMN.png

Long into the night there was much feasting and dancing, and soon the bedding came, myself and Ravella, were stripped of our garments and left alone in my chambers. There was much lovemaking that night, and soon I would soon discover that Ravella was with child.

TrwWYKK.png

And so the next day the wedding concluded and the Lords of the Reach and the Stormlands left Highgarden, and so normality returned to the capital. King Maelon, being a zealous believer in the faith of the Seven, was trying to pass a law to abolish the practice of the First Night, I quickly put forward my support on the law, both to show loyalty to Maelon and to prevent this foul practice from being used by lords of Westoros

mX5BEQQ.png

A year passed within Westoros with little occurring within Westoros and the Reach. Maelon’s rule had made him many friends and little enemies and there was peace in the Seven Kingdoms. In the later months of 33AL, one of my vassals Quentyn Cockleswhent was called before the High Septon in Oldtown, due to his alleged sins, rumour had it that he made love to a castle maid, while his wife was two rooms away from him. To his credit, he nobly agreed to submit himself to the custody of the faith.
2iFgymS.png
pt48IyK.png

However, in the early month of 34AL, more worrying news reached me through my spymaster. Axell Florent, was found to be plotting against me, indeed he was planning to murder me as it turned out. I quickly arranged for some of my guardsmen to travel to Brightwater Keep and apprehend him. They succeeded and quickly returned to Highgarden with him in chains.

zrw2zcE.png

While waiting for Banfred Hightower my loyal Castellan, to finish gathering evidence against Axell, in preperation for his trial a raven arrived for the Citadel, Winter had returned to the Seven Kingdoms…

-----

And so I return, albiet briefly. I shall continue focusing more on this AAR once my exams finish. Also I am trying out a new writing style, as well as introducing chapter titles. Constructive critisim is welcomed, regarding these changes.

It seems half the RPs on these forums have stalled after the switch. My own account still isn't working properly, only just managed to wrangle back posting privileges. Still, it's good to see signs of life here, at lest :)

Yeah, were are heading through a period of Stagnation at the moment, seems the project might die unless there is a chapter surge. Its just difficult for me to write at the moment due to AS Exams. Don't know what's happened to the other writers.

After a bit of fubling I managed to bring our old save back from the dead and load it using the newest version of CK2 and AGoT mod.

What will that change? Well, Way of Life DLC works from now on, should we decide to keep on playing and writing.

I am more then happy to continue, (since summer is coming up, and I will have plenty of free time for AAR writing.) What Version of the mod are we using and what version of CK2? (As a side note, I have faster internet now, so if this does go ahead, we will not be constricted to 1 speed.) :)

P.S, still have the fourth and fifth session images, do you want me to continue writing chapters for those.

My time in the army ends in December. That doesn't necessarily mean that I will have more time as I need to get my life in order. But who knows.

I have discussed continuing this project with the others, but it is more likely we would start a new scenario if we ever again happened to sit down and play together.

Besides, I am not sure we would have enough dedicated players to fill all the spots. Finding the right people proved to be the most difficult part in the past. After all playing is only a small part of this project - it is writing that takes most of the time.

Throwing new guys to play characters they have no history or bond with is not a very welcoming thought either. But then again, that would not be a problem if we started a new scenario. I have a few ideas regarding it already, but only time will tell if they'll ever come to be.

I'd offer to play, but I don't have CKII. Hopefully I'll be getting it before the end of the year, so if you ever need players for something like this, I'd be honored to join if you'd have me. Anyways, regardless, this has been amazing to read, and I'm terribly sad to see it go. I hope to see more AAR's from everyone involved with this, whether or not they're singleplayer or multiplayer.

Agreed completely on what was the major dilemma of this project, and I agree with your assessment that merely trying again to fill vacated roles would likely not be to great success. A new project, though, might go well. It would allow us to try out a new era, perhaps one before the Targaryens - or at some point after the Dance of the Dragons, maybe. Either way, would definitely be interested, as I think you know :)

Also, if you do start a new scenario, I recommend either starting in the earliest possible start date, so all the Kingdoms remain independent, and going from there. If you can hold off until the new year, I'd be happy to join you as either the Gardeners, the Starks, or, well, anybody really. Those two would be my first choices, but I'm not picky if it means I get to be a part of something as great as this.

Ehh, a Disunited seven Kingdoms doesn't really have that Westeros feel. There is the after the spring start though. Could even have someone play the Blackfyres.

After the Spring could be cool, but I think that the actual first Blackfyre Rebellion could be even more interesting. As for the split Seven Kingdoms, Aegon could still try to unite them with the Dragon Conquest CB, or do the same with the Free Cities and create New Valyria, but this time the Gardeners and the Hoares would have a chance of surviving, which is the main appeal of that scenario to me, and why I was disappointed when you started after the actual Conquest was finished and both Houses were extinct. My other suggestion was gonna be Robert's Rebellion, but I think Targaryens on the Iron Throne is much more interesting.
