If your computer is not running XP, and you do not have any network software, you will need a "Router" rather than a simple Switch or Hub to fully functionalize your network.

you need to install the printer on the xp machines.
Printers--> add new printer --> network printer....
and so on

I'm having trouble playing a game over the internet between 2 computers. One person picks host and the other picks join and inputs the host's ip and the person joining gets a 'failed to find game at ip address' message. Also, when we attempt to play over the vnet we get the same message. Strangly when I pick host, my ip address shows up correctly in vnet, but when the other person picks host the ip shown in vnet does not match the ip show in his ip config? We are both running xp through a cable modem. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jagder said:I have been playing Paradox games for years now (EU, EUII, HOI, VIC). Ever since we have played over a network, the games crash maybe 3 or 4 times an hour. We have tried everything we could think of (upgraded to a Gigabit switch, dropped the firewall, changed IP addresses, bought new computers). Could someone please help? Both computers that we use have Win XP, a gigabit network, and function fine in other LAN games.
Any suggestion for things we may not have thought about would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jack99 said:Ok, I'm a total idiot, even with 2 years worth of technical training and my A+ Certification I can't figure out how to setup my router to allow me to play Games/Vicky. It's a totally foreign language to me looking at the setup page thing for my router, a DI-604 from D-Link. Please help?
