OK, I had this laying around since I bought it somewhere (for a bargain) I'm familiar with PI since I play HOI3/SF but after intalling Rome I upgraded to 1.3 and then tried to play...

Where is the mouse pointer? I can't see it at all. All I see is when it hovers over some button because it dims the button tab, but it is very hard to manage the pointer when I can't actually see the fuxer fingering around.

This is ridiculous, I had to re-start my PC twice because I couldn't get it to the Back button to get out of the game!

If this game doesn't have a mouse it is going to have an extremely short life in my system!

The devs actually designed it so that you don't have a cursor. It's more historically accurate that way and provides a nice little late-game challenge.

;)

I suggest you reinstall the game. Something must have gone wrong on your end somewhere.

Of course the game has a mouse. I mean really.

If you are using any unusual mouse settings such as cursor trails, or mouse "helper" software, try turning it off. If you have a touchpad or similar check for updated drivers. You can also try running the game in windowed mode; edit settings.txt with notepad and set fullScreen=no

@ AndrewT That was the answer - I had just started trying to test with having the cursor trails on, set only to the first setting! Thanks, things work after I switched cursor trails off, you beautie mate!

I figured somesuch because I had the same problem with another game also not showing the mouse pointer / cursor - so I realised it wasn't a problem solely with Rome, so I came back here and read the replies and your post hit this bent nail on the head and straightened things out.

Cheers cobber, now I can play, er... Rome & other games too without the cursor trails on, I kind of didn't like it anyway. Actually I found it was really annoying me while typing, so cursor trails begone with you.

EDIT: BUG?
