Yeah let's just say that there is no such thing as a serious late game economy without ecumenopoli. I don't see how you could ever hope to compete with lousy tier 3 alloy buildings.

I've never had an ecumenopolis and I've dominated each game I've played. The minerals/alloys balance is a pain, but I've found that each AI player has tons of alloys available for direct trade. By mid/late game they seem to not care about food, energy, or minerals, but they place high value on the strategic resources (gases, crystals, motes). So if you ramp up production on those you can trade for additional alloys you need.

I'm not really talking about the neutered AI here, rather human players, or end-game crisis. Although I haven't tapped into direct alloy trading, it might be worth it because the market certainly isn't enough to get significant amounts of alloy late game.

ecomupolis are neet, but so damn expensive. 2 of 4districts costs so much minerals which can be crippeling in the early game.
So What you need are some Planets who focus on Mineral Produktion for building maintainance and some Planets who produce more Food than others.

Ecumenopolie or a Gaia World?
I dare you find a person to say they rather have a Gaia world. This ilustrates how inadecuate it is.

Having a BEST option, a BEST strategy, a BEST way of doing things is never a good idea in a game like this. I want to have valid options... with different streghts, and no BEST or RIGHT choice.

Why can't we have multiple ramifications of BEST options? How come Gaia worlds are meh in this patch when before they where a sweet thing to find or even terraform into?
How come Psionic, Evolutive and Synthetic asentions are so unbalanced? How come one is better than other? Can't it be BALANCED?
Well struck Roddo!!

This is not a game that lends itself to having a "best" options as good design. RP purposes shouldn't be the only reason you take this or that option. It's a forgivable mistake at this juncture due to the overhaul that was 2.2, but it surely needs addressing.

Do I already have an ecu? If so then give me that Gaia world. In fact I never touch (that is terraform) any Gaia worlds I find. RP reasons. So there. And yes, RP reasons mean a great deal. If all you care about is playing optimally, you are missing out.
