Are there plans to implement separate power grids for remote regions, or can we expect this is a sequel please?

While true, the UI currently doesn't support it. It shows the available power across the entire city and can't see a potential shortage in an individual grid.

Separate power grids are of course possible within the mechanics, but the game gives you a one-size-fits-all solution to power.
It would be ideal if say, each District showed the power/water consumption so that the player could decide on remote power solutions.

I honestly do not see the true use case for this.
Except for separated islands, the hassle of separated grids doesn't seem worth the advantage of not seeing power lines everywhere.
Realistically, there should be a connection to a national grid anyway, instead of a hard requirement to build power plants (plenty of cities do not have any noteworthy power plant of their own to supply their needs)

I honestly do not see the true use case for this.
Seperate towns... before the national grid emerges in ones imagination :)

Plus... this set up might be also post national grid, when for whatever reason, in a distant or a not so distant future, building one and maintaining is not an option.

Oh my dear... there might be many reasons for that, especially when some of us want to have sort of scenarios.

One way to do that now, and have decent power to each area you want is to build a Solar Power Plant, the one with the mirrors, at them. IIRC they generate 240 watts of power. There is a Solar Updraft power plant that I know does generate 240 watts of power as well as a geothermal plant that generates 80 watts of power. 80 watts goes a long way.

My PC alone is consuming more than that when playing. If you're talking about MegaWatts, that should be enough for a small city. :p
Yeah, that is what I am referrring to. I know that one plant will power quite a bit, and the game will tell you if you need more power to a certain area. The nice thing about the green power plants is that they do not pollute, and they can be put almost anywhere. Plant trees around them to help keep noise down if near a residential area.
