Tell me, it doesn't look as if it's possible to script a separate peace between Japan and the USSR when Japan joins the Axis. Because if it's written from either side (USSR making peace with Japan or vice-versa) then the entire war between the Axis and USSR is cancelled.

Now someone confirm that for me, please. Because I've written some events that initiate that peace between Japan and the USSR and it always ends the fighting w/ Germany (temporarily, because the USSR attacks Germany and the whole thing gets started again).

EDIT: Of course it doesn't work. It's not possible.

What's new?

Yeah, everytime - whether written from a standpoint of the SOVs or JAPs initiating it, the JAPs don't leave the Axis but actually end the USSR's war w/ the Axis, meaning she and Germany are at peace.

Can this be of any use? Snipped from the "AI parameter list"

passivity = { # Against specified enemies.
# Valid values: 0-100 (%)
ENG = 0
FRA = 50
...
...
}

Put it in both the JAP & SOV file on AI change... might do it....

Yeah, you are thinking the same thing I was going over today (oh, if people only knew what I thought about when working...)

Since there is no way to create the great fear of the USSR that Japan had as an Axis member and her reluctance to attack the bear, I think it really does come down to AI files.

So what I want to do (I do my stuff for CORE but it can all basically be done for whatever) is create a Japan-Axis AI that shifts her attention to the south pacific. I want both the Soviets and Japanese to give truly low priority to their borders with each other and, if possible, concentrate emphasis on their own provinces. But better than province priority might be the passivity parameters because that way it doesn't waste troops.

I don't know - just thinking. But Japan must not venture in the USSR and I want to keep the USSR's attention in Europe.

If NAP can't be implemented...

Sorry for interruption. But NO garrisoning on Russian-Japanese border is ahistorical. At least Japan should garrsion every border. If separate peace can't be coded, AI modification that prevents both sides from invading might be better solution.

Something like this:
garrsion on SOV border : fairy high
no province priority(invasion target) cotrolled by SOV

'Garrison enough troops to prevent Russian aggresion. Manchuria is our future. But NEVER attack. It'll be our doom!'

2)SOV
garrison on JAP border : low
(but 0 might be bad. In my JAP game with CORE0.532, SOV garrisoned ONLY Vladivostok and Irkutsk. Every other province alongside trans-Siberian railway was fell without resistance, thus IJA stormed in Russian-German east front within months)
no province priority(invasion target) controlled by JAP/MAN

'If Japan DOES attack, we can counterattack with ease. Russia is vast. Some loss of provinces won't hurt much.'

EDIT:If no event addition is permitted, there're only two way. Egnore each other to the end of scenario or let them fight however ahistorical it is. sigh...
