I have seen a couple of instances of Volunteer armies being sent to assist in wars, in the case of the WWW videos in the original one with Britain vs Germany MP Germany sent troops to assist in the Spanish Civil War and in the case of the more recent Hungary SP mode the Germans sent troops to aid Daniel playing as Hungary.
However, I haven't seen any evidence of being able to send either Air or Naval forces and wondered if this was going to be in the game as obviously Historically the Luftwaffe learnt much of its trade during the Spanish Civil War so is there an intention to be able to send other branches of the armed forces as volunteers/expeditionary forces which would aid in building XP for countries?

You can send them lend lease but you cant send a whole army armed to the teeth as inofficial volunteers. Keep in mind that officially those troops arent sent by the country of origin and thus those countries officially arent involved in the war. Expeditionary forces would be something else of course, but those can only be sent to allies, while volunteers can basicly be sent to any country you arent allied with if they accept of course. If you send lend-lease you will get a very huge kickback in land/air experience compared to what you can gain from training in peacetime.

It should also be noted that planes dont earn experience, but rather have the possibiltiy to generate aces, which will boost the entire airwing.

So, how do we know the limit of Volunteers that can be sent to say the Spanish Civil War or the Sino-Japanese war? The diary only states it depends on the size of the receiving nation, but size of what? Land mass, number of provinces, military factories? How can I tell before I send a Volunteer force if it's to big or to small for the receiving country.

Edit: @podcat Also, I was wondering what if I send Volunteers from Germany to say the Sino-Japanese war, will it still only take two weeks for them to travel across the entire continent?

The size of your army. If you got a small army you obviously wont be able to send 20 divisions to aid them, but rather maybe 2 to 4 for example.

Thanks @LordOfWar16 , but to me honestly it seems that the fascist can decide many of the early wars between Majors and Minors e.g. Sino Japan war, Perhaps the world tension threat abates this but if I'm thinking of this right Germany could send an entire Corps to China?

What is rather bizarre is that apparently you have direct control on the volunteers you send but no control on your expeditionary forces !?

I really don't get why they have done that as historically it was the reverse most of the times. Maybe gameplay reasons are behind that ?

no, because the german army wont be big enough in order to send more troops. Especially early on you wont be able to send more than 1 or maybe 2 divisions as volunteers.

What is rather bizarre is that apparently you have direct control on the volunteers you send but no control on your expeditionary forces !?

Expeditionaries always worked like that in Hearts of Iron. Expeditionaries were controlled by the recieving country. Volunteers get commands from their own country, since that is the reason why countries send "volunteers" in the first place, to represent their interests, without representing their country officially. If you want to controll the troops yourself you'd have to send them regulary under your command. Expeditionaries are used to help out your allies, without needing to pay attention to the troops on the other side of the globe for example.

What interests me is that I thought that Daniel had sent the volunteers to the front manually. Maybe the AI doesn't control them if they send them to the player (which would make sense)

I think the volunteer divisions stay under the control of the sending nation. At least that's how it was in the eary WWW when Jakob sent some guys to the SCW.

That's true, in the latest WWW Italy sent a division to Hungary as volunteers and after it arrived, Italy kept control over it. It was moving and attacking on its own, without Daniel's interference. Also, it wasn't moved by his Battle Plans, because it wasn't added to any of his army groups (their division number did not increase).

i already told you, the size of your army.;) If you have 30-60 divisions you might only be able to send 2-4 of them as volunteers. The screenshot i included actually was taken exactly from that WWW episode with Jakob during the spanish civil war and it clearly says he can only send 2 divisions limited by his amount of divisions.

Wasnt after the Italian defeat at the hand of British, all Italian forces in Africa effectively put under the command of Rommel? If I am not wrong, in www, Spain also gave Daniel full control of their army. (Isnt this just being historical?)

what I really want to know is there seem to have button for recalling expeditionary force but there seem to be no button for recalling voluntary forces. I wonder if voluntary forces will fight in the war country until the war ended with no option of withdrawal

In the screenshot two posts above we can clearly read "Divisions cannot be called home, but will return automatically if you end up in war or the target country comes at peace". So yeah, you can't withdraw them when you want.
